Kip’s Castle Park, located at 22 Crestmont Road, in Verona, New Jersey, brings a new meaning to the term “medieval times” in New Jersey. Kip’s Castle boasts 9,000 square feet that replicate a medieval castle including eleven acres of land offering the absolute best views of the New York City skyline. One of the best parts? Your whole family can enjoy free admission Tuesdays through Fridays from 12PM-3PM (March – October).

The first floor of Kip’s Castle is open to the public for self-guided tours Tuesday to Friday from 12PM to 3PM from May through October. Admission is free.

Kip’s Castle was constructed from 1902 to 1905, and was originally called “Kypsburg,” by Frederic Ellsworth Kip and his wife, Charlotte. While Frederic was a wealthy textile inventor during his time, Charlotte is credited with the design of the “Kypsburg” and its grounds. Yes, girl power! Part of her impressive design work includes the octagonal rose garden in the southwest corner of the property.

Bring your littles for an adventure at Kip’s Castle

Gaze at this beautiful castle and carriage house constructed of local trap rock trimmed with sandstone. When you wander inside, you’ll find thirty rooms of various shapes and sizes, some including vaulted ceilings and six ornate fireplaces. Bring your littles for an adventure at Kip’s Castle, where the grounds are open from dawn to dusk, seven days a week. Check out the first floor of the castle during a self-guided tour.

Not only is there plenty of land to explore, but there’s bird watching and incredible views of the New York City skyline – perfect for photo opportunities with your littles during any season. Kip’s Castle is available for weddings and other special events, too.
