Want to have your kids build a STEM project, where they can use their fine motor skills, feel a sense of pride from their creations, and it’s totally FREE? Head to Home Depot on the first Saturday of each month, where you’ll find FREE DIY Workshops and classes at all their NJ locations. Kids can roll up their sleeves, learn to safely use tools, and build their own projects while practicing hands-on skills, gaining confidence, and acquiring practical knowledge they can apply in the real world. The Home Depot Workshops For Kids
Learn step-by-step at Home Depot Workshops
Each month at The Home Depot, kids ages 5–12 (or younger with parental assistance) can participate in this FREE in-store event, making fun projects geared toward a monthly theme, including games, trinkets, and practical items like planters. You can register online, and once you arrive at the store, your kids will receive a DIY project kit and a Home Depot kid-sized apron. You won’t need to bring any tools, since everything will be on hand for your little builder to complete the project. And after they finish their building and painting, they not only have a keepsake of their hard work, but they also will receive a Completion Certificate to display, as well as a pin to collect. Kids can keep their aprons and add their pins to them, so that each month, when they return, they can bring the apron in and proudly show off their achievements.
What to know before you go
Ready to get building? The Kids Projects are available at any New Jersey Home Depot location. Families are encouraged to register and are welcome to visit anytime between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM to work on their project. But don’t wait until the last minute—Home Depot suggests coming early, when plenty of supplies are still in stock.
