Woodloch Pines Resort, on the shores of Lake Teedyskung in Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, is the kind of family place that fits smoothly into a schedule gap when you want to get away and is a solid go-to with our family of four. Woodloch is all about “togethering,” and the easy, all-inclusive plan (a no-brainer for this busy mom) lets us kick back, have a blast, and create wonderful memories together. Of course, family is at the heart of everything at Woodloch—it’s been family-owned and operated for over 65 years. It’s the comforting feeling we get each time we go when their staff’s warm, familiar smiles greet us (and also explains the generations of families who come bringing the next generation with them). A cozy and family-friendly stay

We make sure to always book a lakeside suite at Woodloch, which has a chic lodge-type vibe that’s both cozy and inviting. There’s plenty of space for the kids to spread out after a full day of activities, a gas fireplace perfect for unwinding, and a gorgeous view of the water that never gets old. Whether you stay in the main lodge or opt for a multi-bedroom vacation home, every element of the resort is designed with families in mind. What makes Woodloch stand out, though, is the people. The staff treats you like family from day one (as many of them are part of the original family of owners), going out of their way to ensure you feel welcomed and cared for. One family member told us that they treat every guest as a guest in their home, and it feels this way. With so many thoughtful details like the indoor splash park, family-friendly game nights, and over 30 daily activities, it’s easy to see why families like mine come back year after year.

Every meal feels like a celebration

One of the things I always look forward to during our stay is the food because meals at Woodloch are like having a dinner party with everyone in your extended family. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in lively, welcoming dining rooms where conversation flows and members of the Kiesendahl family, the resort’s owners, mingle with guests and share meals. Thanks to the all-inclusive dining plan, there’s no need to worry about where to eat, and the menus offer something for everyone, from hearty comfort food to lighter, healthier options and food for those with dietary restrictions. There are three dining rooms across the property—The Main Dining Room, The Inn at Woodloch Pines, and The Grille Room at the Clubhouse at Woodloch Springs and many ingredients come from their own Blackmore Farm at The Lodge at Woodloch. We’ve enjoyed them all, but if there’s one thing we can’t pass up in any of the restaurants, it’s the crumb cake. It’s served fresh and warm every day, and it’s the one treat my family looks forward to having every time we’re here.

Activities and entertainment for every season

No matter the time of year, Woodloch is packed with things to do that include over 30 family-friendly activities daily. In the summer, we spend our days out on the lake kayaking, paddle boating, or just taking in the views. The kids love the go-karts and climbing wall, while we all get competitive in some of the resort’s classic family games. When winter rolls around, Woodloch transforms into a snowy wonderland, with ice skating, snow tubing, and cozy fires to warm up after all the outdoor fun. At night, we look forward to their famous theme nights and live entertainment—whether it’s a Broadway-style show, a comedy act, or a wacky family game show, the evenings are just as exciting as the days. For kids under 10, the Woodloch Kids Club splits them into two age groups, 6 and under and 10 and under, and there are activities geared toward each age group.

What to know before you go

Woodloch is an all-inclusive resort, meaning your meals, activities, and entertainment are all included in your stay. The rates vary depending on the season and number in your family and start at $450 in the off-season, with summer and holiday weekends being the most popular times to visit. Many resort amenities and activities are included in your stay, but the rifle range, batting cages, game rooms, mini bowling, and activities in the Adventures & Passions Series are an additional cost. Adults can book spa services at the nearby Lodge at Woodloch, an adults-only property, and golf at Woodloch Springs. Parking is free for the resort.
