For babies who need to spend time in the NICU to receive special care, the Angel Eyes camera system allows parents and extended family a view of the baby at all times. Especially in the COVID era, where hospital visitor restrictions are in place, it’s an important way for grandparents and other loved ones to have an immediate bond with your baby and know what’s going on.

What to expect with COVID protocols

As you get closer to delivery, talk with your doctor about COVID protocols, as they can change at any moment. Right now, Clara Maass Medical Center has all the standard procedures in place for expectant parents. Mamas, you’ll be tested for COVID when you arrive to deliver, and they will screen your spouse or birthing partner. And like everywhere these days, you’ll need to wear masks throughout your stay. In addition to your partner, you can also have a doula with you during your labor, delivery, and recovery, but no additional visitors are allowed. After recovery, you’ll stay within the Maternity Unit until you bring your baby home.
