Campgrounds in NJ: Where to find family fun in the woods

Sun Retreats Pleasant Acres Farm RV Resort
Located on a working farm, this is one of the campgrounds in NJ with modern amenities, and it has everything from an arcade and miniature golf course to swimming pools, a fishing lake, a dog park, a playground, and sports areas. And let’s not forget the animals—-kids can learn to milk a cow and shear a sheep. There are family cabins, pet-friendly spots, and RV areas available on-site. The resort also has fun weekend activities, from craft fairs to chili cook-offs and swim parties. Also, check out their sister property, River Beach RV Resort, in Mays Landing. Closes for the season on October 17.

Kymer’s Camping Resort
Located in the Kittatinny Mountains, this camping resort has four options for visitors – park model rentals (houses for families of 2-6), cabins, luxury tent rentals, and, of course, tent/trailer campsites. There is an Olympic-size swimming pool on-site, a splash pad, a hot tub, disc golf, tennis courts, basketball courts, miniature golf, a game room, a playground, a stocked lake for fishing, and more. Upcoming events include corn and disc golf tournaments, Frank’s Free Ice Cream, and a Wildlife Show. The last day of the season is October 31.

The Great Divide Campground
This campground has 270 pet-friendly RV and tent campsites – in wooded and open areas – and cabin rentals for visitors who want modern amenities like a full kitchen, home theater system, electronic fireplaces, and central air conditioning. There is a private lake for fishing and boating, a swimming pool, a basketball court, a game room, a playground, and a camp store. Don’t miss the Great Divide Barn events, such as Pirate Weekend, Christmas in July, and 80s Weekend. The season ends on October 10.

Butterfly Camping Resort
Located about 11 miles from Six Flags Great Adventure, this is one of the campgrounds in NJ with RV and tent site rentals and cabins. The campsites are in 30-feet by 40-feet areas with water, electricity, cable, a picnic table, and a fire ring. There are rustic, deluxe, and cottage options for cabins that sleep a max of six (no pets allowed). Your kids will love the weekly Saturday events, including kid crafts by the pool, a sundae social, and monthly activities. The last day of the season is October 15.

Baker’s Acres Campground
This campground in NJ is spread over 60 acres and has 300 shaded campsites (ranging from primitive to electric, water, and cable site hook-up options), RV rentals, cabins, and cottages. A playground, horseshoes area, bocce ball courts, and volleyball are on-site. The site map even offers the best photo op shot areas (get ready for an insta photo dump). Make sure to check the dates of the fish fry weekend, an annual concert with local live bands performing, and a Vegas weekend with family-friendly casino-style games for everyone. Closes for the season on October 31.

Four Seasons Family Campground
Situated in the Delaware River Region of South Jersey, all campgrounds on the property have 100 amp electrical service, water, a picnic table, and a fire ring. There are three cabin options for visitors—the Trapper Cabins sleep four but are rustic (a water spigot is on-site), while the Homesteader Cabins and Rancher Cabins sleep four comfortably and offer modern amenities. There is a swimming and fishing lake with a beach, an arcade, sports courts (volleyball and basketball) with sports equipment available (softball, volleyball, basketball, and soccer), a playground, and a dog park. Upcoming event weekends at this campground in NJ include Pirates in Paradise Weekend, Out of this World Weekend, Halloween Weekend, and more. The last day of the season is October 31.

Adventure Bound Camping Resorts – Tall Pines and Cape May
With two locations of woodland acres in southern New Jersey, you’ll find rustic cabins and ones with modern amenities and RV rentals. Family activities include a splash park, swimming pool, a gaga pit, and inflatable play centers. These campgrounds in NJ host upcoming event weekends, including a Chocolate Lovers Weekend, Christmas in July Weekend and Tailgate Celebration, and a Frightfully Delightful Halloween Finale to close out the season. The season runs through October.

Ocean View Resort Campground
Located on 180 wooded acres between Atlantic City and Wildwood, this campground has 1,173 campsites equipped with electricity, water, sewer, cable TV, and a fire ring and picnic table. Cabin and cottage rentals are available (no pets allowed). The site offers a swimming lake, a kid-friendly splash park with a giant pirate ship and water slides, a game room, tennis courts, a pool, a catch-and-release pond, a mini-golf course, and more. A tram car is available to take campers around the resort. Upcoming activities include a sunset lake movie, candy bingo, a comedy show, and a kid’s movie night. The season ends in October.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort: South Jersey
You can stay at Jellystone Park™ with Yogi and friends at this new campground in NJ. The site has a cabin, RV rental, and RV hook-up and is pet-friendly, so there is no need to leave your furry kids at home. Splash in the swimming lake, cool off in the pool, try Gem Mining, and bounce high on a jumping pillow on the grounds. There are also boat rentals, a floating obstacle course, and fishing for the family. The grounds are open until November 5.
