With Memorial Day here, visiting one of the veterans’ memorials in NJ is a way for kids to learn about past conflicts and the importance of remembrance. Filled with beautiful monuments and names of the men and women who risked their lives for our freedom, the memorials remind us of the sacrifices these brave veterans made for our country. Stopping by one of the Veterans’ memorials in NJ for World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War is a small but significant way to honor those who served and sacrificed and to reflect on all that was lost for freedom. And if you are looking for more NJ wartime history, the Battleship of New Jersey, America’s most decorated battleship, is another spot to learn about those who served. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, you can climb a staircase inside the tower that takes you to the 6th floor, where you can have questions answered and learn more about the tower’s history. There is also an on-site Wall of Honor that pays tribute to the men and women from the local area who served in the war.
