Central Railroad of NJ
Located in Liberty State Park, the Terminal operated until 1954 and tells one of this nation’s most dramatic stories—the immigration of northern, southern, and eastern Europeans, among others, into the United States. The terminal stands out for its architecture and is open year-round, so you can walk around and check out the vintage rails and history.

Empty Sky Memorial
For a meaningful day of reflection and awe, the Empty Sky Memorial in Liberty State Park is a powerful place to stop and visit. This memorial honors the New Jersey residents who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, and you can walk between the memorial’s towering stainless-steel walls while you take in the view of the former World Trade Center site.

Hamilton Park
Run, climb, slide, and play at Hamilton Park. This popular neighborhood spot offers plenty of room for toddlers and kids to spend hours outdoors and enjoy nature. Pack some snacks, bring your soccer ball, and take advantage of the playground or splash area in the warmer months.

Hudson River Waterfront Walkway

Liberty Science Center
Let your kids’ curiosity run wild at Liberty Science Center, where you will find hands-on exhibits, live animals, experiments, and interactive experiences that turn learning into an adventure. While you’re there, explore dinosaurs, the human body, outer space, and more, then catch a show at the planetarium, the largest in the Western Hemisphere. Liberty State Park 
If you’re looking to replicate a Central Park experience, head to Liberty State Park with its sprawling green spaces (1,212 acres!) on the edge of the Hudson. Check out the playground with sweeping views of the Statue of Liberty, plus climbing structures centered around a fun sailing ship (and cute whale) that will wow kids big and small. Within the park is the Liberty Walk, a picnic area, an Interpretive Center, the 9/11 Memorial, Central Railroad Station, and ferries that take you to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty.

Lincoln Park
Lincoln Park is one of the largest parks in Jersey City and a quiet reprieve right in the middle of the city. You will find playgrounds, walking areas, sports facilities, a gazebo, and lots of space for the kids to run, play, and spend time together outside. Fun fact: This park opened in 1905 and was originally known as West Side Park.

Loew’s Jersey Theatre 
Visit this beautifully restored 1929 movie palace, where watching a film or attending a performance feels like a spectacular event. You can go and see a family-friendly movie, a concert, or a special event. Leave time to wander through the theatre and take in the gorgeous historic details around every corner.

Mana Contemporary 
If you thought you needed to go to Soho to see a gallery of modern art, then you’ll be pleased to see it on this side of the Hudson at Mana Contemporary, a massive former industrial building transformed into a center for contemporary art. While you are there, explore galleries, artist studios, and rotating exhibitions, or attend a special event or program happening year-round.

Newport Green
Probably one of Jersey City’s best-kept secrets, Newport Green features the city’s first urban beach, a splash park, a playground, and a carousel. This spot spans over 4 acres and has something for everyone year-round, including ice skating in the winter, outdoor movies in the warmer months, live concerts, and beach parties. While you are there, stop by Lighthouse Point, with Adirondack chairs and a charming lighthouse overlooking the Hudson. Then gaze at the towering “Water’s Soul” sculpture, where you can take a moment to reflect and admire the work of world-renowned artist Jaume Plensa.

Newport Playport 
A playground, beach, and waterfront views in one spot? Yes, please. At Newport Playground, kids can have a beach day without leaving Jersey City, where they can dig in the sand, hang on monkey bars, swing, slide, or splash around in the waterplay area. Littles still learning their way around the playground can have fun at the bright, colorful Gazebo Playground, designed for younger kids to enjoy a safe, less daunting playground experience.

Vroom, vroom! Put your need for speed to the test at RPM Raceway, where kids, teens, and adults can compete on an indoor electric go-kart track. Van Vorst Park
Sometimes, all you want to do is slow down, and visiting Van Vorst Park lets you do exactly that.
