When I started planning a family getaway to Ocean City, I knew I wanted a beach house vibe without actually renting a house. (Hello, housekeeping.) Luckily, I found it at The Impala Suites at Shorebreak Resorts, a condo-style resort steps away from the beach and iconic Ocean City boardwalk. With large rooms complete with a kitchen, living room, and private bedrooms, we could relax and unwind after a fun-filled day without the cost or hassles of a beach house rental. Impala Suites at Shorebreak Resorts: A Beach House Experience

Spread out in a condo suite
After checking in (check-in is across the street at their sister property, Impala Island Inn), we walked into our very spacious suites, which felt like a cool beach condo with views of the Ferris Wheel on the OC boardwalk in the distance. The suites are decorated with a coastal chic vibe—think whitewashed woods, creams, rattan accents, and beachy prints hung on the walls—and have private balconies with seating where you can feel the ocean breeze. The kids shared a bedroom, and we had our own room, which made it feel more like home than a hotel. The best part was the fully equipped kitchen and dining table, which gave us the freedom to eat at “home” with the window shutters open, overlooking the beach. We brought coolers with food from home so we could eat breakfast each morning and make sandwiches for lunch, as well as a few dinners where we brought in takeout from the boardwalk. It was so great to have the kids come up from the pool when they were hungry, and not have to worry about where we were going to order from or find a restaurant that pleased us all.

Spend time splashing around
My husband and I loved how close to everything the hotel was, which made it easy to head back whenever we needed to. There’s a heated pool for hotel guests only, and my kids spent a good amount of time splashing around. The pool is big enough that the kids could be in it all the time and never feel like it was overcrowded. But the best part was going back and forth to the suite, where they could have a snack or get a nap, while I sat on the balcony and enjoyed the quiet.
Hit the beach and boardwalk
Of course, going to Ocean City is all about the beach and the boardwalk. The Impala Suites is across the street from both, and it made it feel even more like we had a beach house so close to the ocean. We would spend our days building sandcastles, swimming in the ocean, searching for seashells, and just turning off our phones and relaxing. Ocean City. Each night, the boardwalk kept us entertained with the rides, games, mini golf, and delish food. One morning, we got up early and rode bikes on the boardwalk, which was a great way to go up and down the 2.5-mile boardwalk without any of the crowds.
