Monmouth Medical Center standouts for a reputation of excellence
For the 11th year in a row, MMC has received an A for hospital safety score rating, and that rating is a crucial factor in being given a Newsweek recognition. Best Maternity Care Hospitals have fully met The Leapfrog Group’s standards for maternity care on evidence-based, nationally standardized metrics. These metrics include lower rates of early elective delivery, NTSV C-section, and episiotomy, as well as compliance with process measures including newborn bilirubin screening prior to discharge and blood clot prevention techniques for mothers delivering via C-section.
“Monmouth Medical Center is the first choice of expectant parents in Monmouth and Ocean counties, delivering nearly 6,000 babies annually,” says Robert Graebe, MD, chairman and program director of Obstetrics and Gynecology. “We have built one of the safest obstetrical and gynecologic services in New Jersey and this latest recognition follows our 2019 inclusion by Leapfrog among 20 percent of hospitals nationwide recognized for fully meeting their quality and safety standards on key maternity quality measures.”
Welcome to the New Maternity Unit at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center
This year Newark Beth Israel Medical Center received its second consecutive Newsweek World’s Best Hospital designation, an A safety score from Leapfrog and the Best Maternity Care award from Newsweek. All of these recognitions come at a time when the hospital is continuing to expand its women’s health offerings. Before the pandemic, Newark Beth Israel Medical Center completed its brand new 34-bed maternity unit, with spacious private rooms that are the perfect setting for family bonding. They’ve completely renovated the interiors, every room is now a private room,where families are encouraged to visit and meet the new babe. And each new baby receives an adorable “0 Birthday” cake to celebrate this new life (and also congratulate the new mom and dad). Newark Beth Israel Medical Center is one of the safest maternity hospitals in the nation, being able to meet the needs of every one of their patients. And this was even more true at the height of the pandemic when they safely delivered 450 babies. “Safety is at the core of everything we do to guide our expecting parents through a healthy pregnancy and a rewarding labor and delivery experience,” said Khalid Sawaged, DO, FACOG, Chairman of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center. “Just as Newark Beth Israel continues to meet and or exceed national safety and quality metrics, we have built a program that does better than the benchmark in key maternity quality measures.”
