Sour cherries, tree-ripened cherries, pie cherries, and more are almost ready for picking, but don’t wait—the season for cherry picking in NJ is quick. Opening day for cherries typically begins in mid-June (but check ahead because the erratic weather negatively affected many crops in 2026), and it can last briefly in some locations (even as short as a week), so if you’re looking to pick your own, now would be the time to make a plan.
