Explore all the iconic spots in Asbury Park

Asbury Park isn’t just where Bruce Springsteen found his sound–there’s a lot more to check out in this iconic beach town. From walking through the historic convention hall to seeing art in an open-air gallery to peddling a swan boat on the lake, spending time at this landmark shore town is a must. Stop by the Convention Hall, which overlooks the beach, the Paramount Theatre, which has hosted legends such as Sinatra, Bon Jovi, and Elvis Costello, and Springsteen’s second home, The Stone Pony, located near the giant, smiling mural of the Wonder Bar.

Stroll downtown at the “Jewel of the Jersey Shore,” aka Spring Lake

A gorgeous town that boasts something for everyone, Spring Lake is one place you won’t want to miss when you are at the shore. Downtown Spring Lake offers shopping at stores like Thunder Road Books and Dune + Salt, as well as delicious dining options, including Arugula and The Scone Pony, and other spots worth checking out. You can spend the entire day strolling the adorable downtown before taking a short ride to the beach and taking a dip in the waves.

There’s so much to do in Manasquan

Did you know there’s a coastal NJ town, settled in the late 1600s, where Main Street is still the hub for everything? You’ll find plenty of things to do in Manasquan, tinged with a laid-back and beachy vibe. With over 45 boutique shops and restaurants, downtown Manasquan is easy to explore on foot with fun spots like Batch On Main for a caffeine break, Brave New World for shore gear, and The Main Scoop Creamery for delish ice cream. And if you’ve got a family of bikers, hop on the bike path that starts in Manasquan and extends to Allaire State Park.

Spend family time in Ocean City

Affectionately known as a family-oriented seaside resort, this is a great place to bring the whole family for a day of fun and create memories that will last a lifetime. With a boardwalk that stretches 2.5 miles, gorgeous beaches, and fun amusement rides, your little ones won’t want to leave. But one of the best parts of Ocean City is its downtown area, where Asbury Avenue, the main drag, is filled with delectable eats, fun shops, and hosts unique events. Check out Hoy’s 5 & 10, loaded with every essential for a beach day, and Asbury Kitchen, which serves an all-day breakfast menu (pancakes for dinner, anyone?).

Take a day trip to Point Pleasant Beach

Sure, when someone says Point Pleasant, you might immediately think of Jenkinson’s Boardwalk, and while this is a must-do after a beach day, the town offers a lot for families, too. Boasting charm, downtown Point Pleasant is entirely walkable, and strolling the sidewalks, you’ll find colorful murals and unique shops like Stella e Luna to buy gifts that proudly boast the Jersey Shore, or pick up a tee and coconut surf candle at Gordon’s Surf Shop. Fuel up at local favorites B2 Bistro or Spano’s and end your day with the popular Hoffman’s Ice Cream (a few blocks from the center of town), perfect for a sweet treat.

Go back in time in Cape May

With candy-colored cottages, a charming Victorian history, a pedestrian-friendly area, inspiring museums, a lighthouse, and kid-pleasing ways to get around town (hello, golf cart rental), there are plenty of things to do in Cape May. One of the best parts is the nostalgic feeling you’ll get when you step out of your car and stroll along the promenade. Be sure to stop by one of the hot dog stands, dine at a restaurant with oceanfront views, shop at one of the many small businesses, or stroll along the streets of the downtown area. If you want to extend the fun, stay over in a luxe, Victorian, or grand resort in Cape May.

Find the seashore at its best in Stone Harbor

Did someone say a day at one of the cutest Jersey Shore downtowns? Stone Harbor has it all–shopping, dining, adventures, and shore views that invite you to spend time on the sand. The beachy shops are all along the downtown where you can find clothes, bikes, candy, art, and all things kids. If you work up an appetite when you shop ’til you drop (we definitely do), then choose from the 96th Street Bar & Grille, Back Bay Seafood, and more. Make sure you check out the events calendar before you go for all the fun things happening.

Explore one square mile of Ocean Grove

This Atlantic Ocean resort town is known for its charming homes and the largest collection of authentic Victorian architecture in the country. But the downtown area is a great place to visit if you are looking for shops, restaurants, ice cream parlors (we see you, Day’s Ice Cream), and more. When the weather is right, pick one of the local spots to sit outside and eat a meal while you watch the comings and goings of this vibrant town, initially settled by Methodist ministers in 1870. During the season, you can find various events, including flea markets, music festivals, and craft shows. Before you head home, make sure you take a ride by the historic Tent City, where generations of families have been living each summer.
