Celebrate our state’s Italian heritage (or your own family’s) at Belmar’s Feast of San Gennaro. There’s no shortage of cannoils, zeppoles, Italian sausage and dancing at this event, so be sure to wear some comfy sneakers and bring the stroller—chances are, you’ll be on your feet all day. Make sure you watch the procession of the Statue of San Gennaro and sign up for the cannoli eating contest.

Spirit of the Jerseys State History Fair

Give your kiddos a daily dose of state history while celebrating over 500 years of New Jersey. At the Spirit of the Jerseys State History Fair, there are so many fun, educational activities in store—like scheduled talks with historical figures George Washington, Amelia Earhart and Teddy Roosevelt. Musical performances of the World War I era and 18th-century ice cream making demos will be a big hit, too.

Bassetfest 2019

Make your way to Riverview Beach Park for all the basset hounds you can imagine. Whether it’s those cute droopy eyes or long floppy ears that make you smile, the littles will love participating in kids crafts, watching basset hound games, taking a family photo, trying a bean bag toss, and figuring out a pin-the-tail game. Of course, the unique puppy parade sporting all the adorable basset hounds is a pretty big deal, too. While it’s free to attend, it’s encouraged to bring a side dish, dessert or beverage to share.

Art in the Park is a day devoted to enjoying music, art, nature and community. If you’re feeling extra artsy, all young artists who attend are encouraged to create tiny fairy homes to display around the park that day.
