Every month we round up 15 must-know, kid-friendly charity events happening around New Jersey, and this June is no exception for inspiring acts of kindness you and your family can take part in. Take this summer to join in on events and  festivities that encourage your children to pay it forward – from Bikers for Brooke Motorcycle Run , bowling to raise money for dogs, and 5ks that raise money and awareness for different diseases.

Funny Farm Rescue Summer Festival

A fundraising event for Funny Farm Rescue featuring over 60 crafters, vendors, and food Vendors with family-friendly activities like hayrides, face painting and more. The Funny Farm Rescue is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) charity that is personally and professionally committed to the well being of abused and abandoned animals. They provide food, shelter, medical care, compassion and love for the rest of their natural lives in a permanent, safe and healthy environment.

Pins For Pups
June 3, 2018 | 12:30PM to 3:30PM

Join J & Co Rescue at Pinsetters Bar & Bowl for a fun afternoon of friendly competition, food, prizes, and raffles. The money for tickets goes to raise money for J & Co Rescue, a small non-profit rescue making a big difference in the lives of the dogs. Their mission is to not only save, but to educate people along the way; overcrowded shelters, puppy mills, recognizing/reporting neglect & abuse and the importance of spay & neuter. Additionally they help low income families by providing resources and references for low cost basic vetting, prescriptions, spay/neuter surgery, etc.

Wiffle Ball for a Cause

Cowan, Gunteski & Co., P.A. has teamed up with Lakewood BlueClaws for ‘Wiffle Ball for a Cause’ benefiting the New Jersey Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in providing critical cancer research, treatments and support for families. It’s going to be a fantastic event with a live wiffle ball tournament, superheroes, activities for kids and more – all on the same field where the Blue Claws play.

NJ Special Olympics Summer Games
June 8 – 10, 2018

From June 8-10, 2018 athletes will compete in bocce, gymnastics, tennis, softball, swimming, powerlifting, and track and field. Come and cheer our athletes on during this 3-day competition event held at The College of New Jersey.

Annual The Valerie Fund Walk and JAG Physical Therapy 5K Run
June 9th, 2018 | Registration Begins at 7:00AM

Proceeds from this event will benefit the Valerie Fund to support comprehensive health care for children with cancer and blood disorders. Patients receive far more than treatment for their physical illnesses. Their philosophy is that to truly heal the children with whose care we are entrusted, we must treat them emotionally, socially, and developmentally, as well as medically.

Paddle for Pink Dragon Boat Festival

The 12th annual Community Dragon Boat Festival is being held at Mercer County Park, and promises fun for the whole family. The event itself promotes breast cancer awareness and accepts donations that go towards breast cancer patients. You can join as a team of paddlers or simply attend to watch the races. Food vendors, live entertainment, silent auctions, and more will also be available for you and your family thorughout the duration of the day. Come have fun for a good cause.

20th Annual Family Fun Buffalo Watch Fundraiser for Whitehouse First Aid and Rescue Squad
June 9, 2018 | 9:00AM – 5:00PM (rain or shine)
This event features a fundraiser for the Whitehouse Rescue Squad at the Readington River Buffalo Farm; an historic, maintained working farm preserve. A line-up of family fun activities and some great attractions for the adults too. You’ll have the rare opportunity to get a close-up and personal view of bison and their newborn calves. Our tour guides will give you an education on the wagon trail and provide fun facts about these magnificent animals and the incredible 300+ acre farm they call home. Your day will include farm tours, live bands, civil war reenactment camps, WWII army equipment, blacksmith demonstration, live wild west cowboy shows, native American Indian, wolf preservation animal and much more. In addition, there will be a good selection of crafters, collectors, memorabilia and antique vendors if you’re looking for that something special to wear, display or cherish as a keepsake

Bikers for Brooke Motorcycle Run & Family Fun
June 9, 2018 | 12:00AM – 3:00PM (rain or shine)
The ride is police escorted and attracts hundreds of motorcycle enthusiasts. This year the ride will start in Berkeley Heights and travel through New Providence and winds through the surrounding towns. The family fun begins after the ride, where families attend to eat, play and shop. Participants do not have to ride to attend. The Brooke Healey Foundation was created to build awareness and raise funds for research Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG); to help families dealing with pediatric cancers, especially brain cancers and DIPG; to foster community relationships and to promote involvement through scholarships awarded to civically active high school seniors.

Ready Set Walk for Lulu’s Rescue

The 5th annual, Ready, Set, Walk for Lulu’s Rescue is a 3K pledge walk dedicated to raising funds for man’s best friend. The event also includes a picnic, live entertainment and games for all to enjoy. In addition, come meet some of our adorable pups that are waiting to find their fur-ever home & families. Lulu’s Rescue has saved the lives of more then 3000 dogs in the past 8 years. Every $250 dollars raised pulls a dog off of death row and gives them a second chance at finding a loving fur-ever home.

Over 20 Gourmet Food Trucks, partnered with some great music, make for an enchanting and fulfilling Summer day. Bring your appetite, lawn chairs, pups, pop ups and blankets. Dine on excellent food, while enjoying the beer and sangria garden. Face painting, kids activities and more! The event is a benefit for the David Gibson Memorial Fund. They are also collecting non-perishable food items for the local food pantry.

Night Out with the Critters

Get a chance to have a private evening at Cape May Zoo! The event includes a barbeque dinner and activities planned throughout the zoo including behind-the-scenes at the giraffe barn and big cat den, walk through the wallaby yard, meeting the education animals, watch animal training sessions and much more! There will also be a silent auction with many unique items. All proceeds from this event go to the Cape May County Zoo AAZK Chapter.
