With Memorial Day here, visiting one of the veterans’ memorials in NJ is a way for kids to learn about past conflicts and the importance of remembrance. Filled with beautiful monuments and names of the men and women who risked their lives for our freedom, the memorials remind us of the sacrifices these brave veterans made for our country. Stopping by one of the Veterans’ memorials in NJ from World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam are a small but significant way to honor those who served and sacrificed and learn of our country’s history. World War II Memorials

World War II Memorial at Veterans Park
This beautiful World War II memorial is located across the street from the State House in Trenton for people to enjoy, reflect on, and remember. The theme for this memorial is “victory,” and it celebrates the courageous men and women who fought in World War II for our freedom. Over 56,000 New Jersey residents served in the armed forces during this war, and our state played a large part in the war effort.

World War II Memorial Park
World War II was one of the most historic battles in America’s history, and this Memorial honors all those who served and lost their lives for our country. At the center of the park is a striking monument to the veterans of World War II with a bronze statue of a WWII infantryman. Along the park, you will also find stone monuments representing each branch of the military and paying tribute to every soldier who fought in the war. There are also restored vehicles and equipment from the war on display along paths that run through the park.

World War II Lookout Tower
Located in Lower Township, close to Cape May, this beautiful Lookout Tower tells the story and reminds all of Cape May’s role in World War II. The tower was built in 1942 and was one of 15 Delaware and New Jersey towers used as observation posts to detect enemy vessels. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, you can climb a staircase inside the tower that takes you to the 6th floor, where you can have questions answered and learn more about the tower’s history. There is also a Wall of Honor on-site that pays tribute to the men and women from the local area who served in the war.

New Jersey Korean War Memorial
Built to ensure that future generations will never forget, honor, and pay tribute to those who fought in the Korean War, the New Jersey Korean War Memorial is near the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. Many may not know that over 191,000 New Jersey residents served in the Korean War, and this memorial honors all those who fought. This beautiful memorial has names etched into a wall that you can read and features statues representing the pain and hardships felt during the War.

Korean War Veterans Memorial
Located within a section of Liberty State Park, the Korean War Veterans Memorial pays tribute to all those in Hudson County who died in action. The design and structure of the memorial were inspired by a competition initiated by Stevens Institute. The memorial consists of gorgeous monuments, engraved pictures depicting scenes from the Korean War, and powerful statues representing the soldiers who risked their lives for our freedom during the war.

Mercer County Vietnam Veterans Memorial
In remembrance of all those who fought in the Vietnam War and didn’t make it home to their families and loved ones, the Mercer County Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a beautiful place to reflect on the Vietnam War and the strength of those involved. Take a moment to read the descriptions inside this Veterans Memorial in NJ, and as you walk through, a Service Medal, Campaign Medal, and Purple Heart are on display.

New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial
Created by the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans’ Memorial Foundation, this memorial seeks to share the experiences of the war and remind future generations of the incredible sacrifice of the military members who served during wartime. It is a compelling depiction of what it was like during that time in history and boasts a Wall of Faces that puts a face to a name. While there, walk around the Vietnam Era Museum for an even more in-depth look at the Vietnam War.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall
Taking a trip down the shore? Stop by the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Wildwood for reflection and a look at history. This gorgeous wall is a replica of the official Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, DC. It is made out of black granite and has the 58,913 names of the fallen soldiers who served in the Vietnam War. The wall stretches 240 feet long and is a breathtaking sight.

Montgomery Veterans Memorial
Designated as a Purple Heart Community, the Montgomery Veterans Memorial is located in Montgomery County, and it is a beautiful place to stop and take in history. There are names etched into granite columns, gorgeous flags around the circular area, and places to sit while you admire the monuments and remember all the veterans who served our country.

Veterans Memorial Garden
With a location in the middle of Jackson, the Veteran’s Memorial Garden is an inviting spot to sit, reflect, and disconnect for a little while. Built to honor all veterans who have served to protect our country, this garden has areas for every branch of the military and pavers on the ground to commemorate loved ones who have made the ultimate sacrifice. While you’re there, spend a few minutes taking in the beauty of the lake directly behind the garden.

Perth Amboy Veterans Memorial
A beautiful memorial nestled in the middle of Perth Amboy, the memorial features six 12-foot black granite silhouette statues representing a different military branch. Each figure is imprinted with the emblem of each branch, including the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army, National Guard, U.S. Navy, and the Merchant Marines. After walking around the memorial and taking in the over 9,000 names on the Perth Amboy Wall of Honor, enjoy some quiet time among the gorgeous views.
