With the warmer weather at our fingertips, we’re seeing a number of exciting grand re-openings around New Jersey happening this weekend – perfectly timed to coincide with the start of spring break and the long Easter weekend. Spend time with your little ones this weekend at all the spring season openings, including playing boardwalk games at Morey’s Piers in Wildwood, going on a family thrill ride at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, and welcoming all the animals at Space Farms Zoo and Museum in Sussex, plus so many more kid-friendly things to do around New Jersey this weekend.

1. Morey’s Piers Open for the Season

Yearning for that summer fun? Throw your hands in the air like you just don’t care and head to Morey’s Piers to kick off your spring break with some boardwalk fun. Mariner’s Amusement Pier reopens on Saturday and you can be the first in line to get back on your favorite rides from thrill rides to family-friendly ones.

2. Spring Break at Six Flags Great Adventure

Due to last weekend’s nor’easter, Six Flags Great Adventure’s season-opening is now set for this weekend beginning on March 30, and you can be sure it will be one thrilling day! It’s happening just in time to welcome in spring break with a big hurrah (and a few screams). Head to the park for a thrilling day and enjoy oldies but goodies like El Toro, Kingda Ka, Nitro, BATMAN: The Ride and more. You will also be one of the first visitors to check out the newest rides being constructed at the park.

3. Space Farms Zoo and Museum Grand Opening

Have you missed seeing your favorite animals at Space Farms? Come out for the grand reopening of the zoo and history museum this season on March 30. With more than 500 live wild animals of 100 different species, your family will love laughing with a pair of spotted hyena, watching the kangaroo hop, and if you look closely, maybe you will see a baby joey in the pouch. Don’t forget to check out the farm animals, too – piglets, roosters, calves, lambs, and donkeys. The Space Farms Museum contains more than 50,000 artifacts, including 50 antique cars.

10. War at the Jersey Shore National Youth Wrestling Championships

Prepare for a wrestle-mania when the best youth wrestlers from all over the country come together at The Wildwoods Convention Center to battle for the national title. With over 2,000 wrestlers from 20 states competing in over 50 weight classes across five age divisions, you can watch all levels of youth wrestling competition. A girls division, K-12, will also be featured.

11. Turtle Fest

Slow and steady wins the race – come to Wetlands Institute and enjoy a leisurely day with the family going on an egg hunt, creating arts and crafts, and helping a naturalist search for turtle hatchlings along the trail. You’ll also be treated to special live animal presentations. Don’t forget to stop by the aquarium and say hello to the octopus and watch the animals have breakfast.

14. Tree to Tree Night Climb

If you think climbing trees is fun during the day, just wait until you try it at night. Tree to Tree Adventures is cracking the glow sticks and opening up their popular day course after dark. The Night Climb Course is for ages 11 and up. You’ll receive a training, then embark on self-guided activities that will take you through two adventure courses and one zip-line course. Your LED headlamp (included in the ticket price) will provide just enough light to help you climb without taking away from an authentic experience of climbing through trees at night. 15. Weston Family Lab Opens at Liberty Science Center
Sunday, April 1, 2018 | 9:00AM to 6:00PM
Want to see actual images of tectonic plate motion and melting sea ice happening in real time? Immerse yourself in the new Weston Family Lab at Liberty Science Center, which features a six-foot suspended globe. STEM educators from the center who are trained in atmospheric and space science will lead programs for K-12 students and guests tracking real-time conditions on the globe anywhere on Earth’s surface with HD images uploaded directly from NOAA and NASA. That means you can view real-time images of volcanoes, hurricane paths, and more happening right now.
