Turtle Back Zoo resident groundhog Essex Ed and his pal Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring – so it’s time to celebrate (clinks NJMOM coffee mugs). After a long winter, it’s no surprise we’re always extra excited to get back outdoors to our regularly scheduled #NJMOM adventuring. Turtle Back Zoo in Essex County is one of our favorites year-round (it’s open 362 days!) – but there’s just something special about spring at Turtle Back Zoo that makes us all feel like children at heart. With over 200 species representing 800 animals from around the globe, plan your all-day outing or discover one of the zoo’s educational and interactive children’s activities.
Here are awesome spring happenings at Turtle Back Zoo:
Nature Adventurers: Family Nature Club
April 14, 1PM-3PM
This brand new club is a great way for you to spend time with your family outdoors in nature. This club is designed to help you and yours harness the power of gaming to get outside and it’ll teach you a lot about local nature and conservation along the way. Bonus: each ticket receives a free reusable Family Nature Club water bottle.
Zoo Storytime with the Easter Bunny
April 13,14, 20, 21 @ 10AM, 12:30PM, 2:30PM
Hop, hop, hop on over to Turtle Back Zoo on one of two weekends for storytime with the Easter Bunny. Not a traditional breakfast with the Easter Bunny, this event is much more interesting and fun for your littles. The event features the reading of two stories by Zoo staff, a meet and greet and takeaway photo with the Easter Bunny, and an animal presentation. It is the Zoo after all! Register in advance before tickets sell out.
Cost: Adults $8, Kids $12, Kids under 2 free
