Looking for a way for you and your family to give back this June? Fly high for the pooches with a little indoor skydiving at NJ Strays’ Come Fly Away in Paramus, take in exciting dragon boat races and honor those with breast cancer at the Paddle for Pink Dragon Boat Festival in West Windsor, or feed some of your favorite farm animals and help them live longer lives at the Funny Farm Rescue Summer Festival in Mays Landing. These kinds of events and festivities around New Jersey are a perfect way to encourage your children to pay it forward and have a little fun as a family while doing it.

Funny Farm Rescue Summer Festival
June 2, 9AM-4PM
Play some corn hole, take a family hayride and give the kids a chance to feed some furry friends at this  fundraising event for Funny Farm Rescue. You can expect tons of crafters, food vendors and family-friendly activities like face painting for the little ones. The Funny Farm Rescue is committed to the well-being of abused and abandoned animals, and provides food, shelter, medical care, and love in a permanent, safe and healthy environment.

2nd Annual Essex County Family Justice Center 5K
June 2, 7:30AM-11AM

Come out and get active with the family for the 2ndAnnual Essex County Family Justice Center 5K “Race for Hope 2019″ to support victims of domestic violence in Essex County. Arrive early for the pre-race warm-up and stretch, a professional announcer and live DJ. All racers will receive a race t-shirt, bib and finisher medal. Funds raised from this event will help the Family Justice Center provide safety planning and emergency assistance to victims fleeing an abuser, including meals and transportation, formula, diapers, window and door alarms, cell phones, and personal safety devices.

Dog Days of Summer & Some Cool Cats
June 7
Nearly 150 pups and kitties up for adoption are taking over Main Street in Boonton! But these aren’t actual animals, they’re sculptures, and by donating to one of three local pet rescues, you can bring one home. The kids will love seeing these colorful, lifelike fiberglass creations, some of them even created by local students. While you’re downtown, do a little shopping and grab a bite as you enjoy a summer stroll with your family.

Paddle for Pink Dragon Boat Festival
June 8, 8AM-5PM
Has your family seen the magic and excitement of a dragon boat race? The Community Dragon Boat Festival at Mercer County Park is the perfect opportunity to watch one, and help support breast cancer awareness in the process. You can join as a team of paddlers or simply come to watch the race action. There’s lots of family fun planned, so enjoy some live entertainment, silent auctions and grab a bite or a sweet treat.

Come Fly Away with NJ Strays and iFLY
June 13 & 20, 6:30PM-9PM
Fly high at iFly in Paramus and help save animals here in New Jersey at this fundraising event supporting NJ Strays. Their mission is to reduce shelter intake and decrease euthanasia for shelter animals here in New Jersey. NJ Strays has teamed up with iFLY so you can try out skydiving in an indoor air tunnel, with the cost going toward rescue efforts. Children have to be 3 years old and above, but can participate. Get tickets here.
