5 Must-Know Charity Events This August

Looking for a way to give back this August? Walk for the tatas at the Lavalette Breast Cancer Walk in Lavalette, race little (plastic) crabs through the waterpark while raising awareness for juvenile diabetes at the JDRF/FARE Crab Race in Seaside Heights, or help support families who’ve lost a baby with the TEARS Foundation at the Celebrate Summer Mix and Mingle in Toms River. No matter how you choose to give back this month, these events are the perfect way to show your littles how to pay it forward and spend a fun family day together doing it.

Kortney’s Challenge, 2 Mile Fun Run/Walk
August 4, 8:30AM
Spend the day coming together with the community to fight pediatric brain cancer in memory of a remarkable little fighter lost to this devastating disease. You can help the Kortney Rose Foundation as it fights to find a cure for this cancer, in honor of 6-year-old Kortney Rose. Take the Kortney’s Challenge 2-mile Fun Run/Walk through scenic Oceanport and get moving for this great cause. The flat course caters to runners and walkers of all ages and is stroller-friendly. Afterwards, hang out in the private picnic at the track for some area with food, drinks, and fun for the whole family. Racers also get free grandstand entrance to the track!

Lavalette Breast Cancer Walk
August 4, 8:30AM
Enjoy a summer day in this cozy beach town helping a great cause as you honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about the disease, and to help save lives at the 15th Annual 2-Mile Breast Cancer Walk. It’s themed “Together, We Can Lick This” and aptly begins at The Music Man Singing Ice Cream Shoppe. Registration includes a PINK event t-shirt, water bottle and free ice cream!

Chester Food Truck & Music Festival
August 17, 11AM-7PM
Rock out to some live music and get your grub on at the Chester Food Truck and Music Festival. This fun-filled family day raises money for the Chester First Aid Squad and the Chester/Mendham Food Pantry. Bring your appetite, lawn chairs, pups and blankets for a family day that gives back to the community.

JDRF/FARE Crab Race
August 24, 5PM-6PM
The littles will love this fun and unique event benefitting Juvenile Diabetes and Food Allergy Research Education, where they’ll race little plastic crabs at Breakwater Beach Waterpark in Seaside Heights. The winning crab gets $100 and 10 All-Day Passes to Breakwater Beach for the 2019 season and lots of other crabs will get prizes too! All proceeds from the event go directly to JDRF and FARE in hopes of finding a cure for these conditions.

Celebrate Summer Mix and Mingle with the TEARS Foundation
August 25, 5PM-9PM
Enjoy a summer night out at a beautiful, rustic venue at the Celebrate Summer Mix and Mingle celebration with the TEARS Foundation. This event features a light buffet, music and dancing, a wagon tour of the farm, a gift auction and raffle, and an evening relaxing by fire pits supporting The TEARS Foundation. TEARS provides emotional and financial help to families who have lost a child by providing funds for burial or cremation services as well as a variety of grief support initiatives. This incredible organization wants to bring the community and affected families together in celebration of making a difference.
