Summertime events in New Jersey, always. But free summertime events in New Jersey are especially great! Now that the kids have hit their summer vacation stride, family-friendly events are in full swing, and there’s no shortage of free activities and festivals this July in New Jersey. Join us for NJMOM’s Family Yoga Night at the Pier with your little yogis in Long Branch, ride amusements at the Monmouth County Fair in Freehold, learn about our sparkling friends at Duke Farms’ Firefly Festival in Hillsborough, and dozens of more fun events – all for FREE this month.

1. NJMOM Family Yoga Nights
July 18 and 25, 2017 | 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
We’re at it again with another series of free outdoor sessions for little yogis. Our yoga classes are instructed by leading local studios, and are perfect for families of all sizes and skill levels. Ages 2 to 102, all are welcome to join us for a 45-minute strength-building, self-confidence boosting class. We’ll go over basic poses and techniques that little ones can achieve, and are beneficial to mom, too. No experience is necessary. 2. Boonton Farmers’ Market
Every Saturday in July | 8:30 AM until 1:00 PM
If you’re starting to teach your little ones the ropes of the kitchen, consider buying local ingredients from your own community. The Boonton Farmers’ Market will let you and your little chefs buy fresh produce from community farmers.

3. Leonia Sports Booster Club Carnival
July 1 – 7, 2017 | 4:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Leonia Sports Booster Club’s mission is to provide young Leonians the best competitive sports experience possible. The carnival, organized by this nonprofit organization, aims to raise funds to continue improving sports and recreation programs. The carnival itself is going to include Independence Day fireworks at 9:30, in addition to plenty of rides, entertainment, and many more attractions. More fun, more sports!

4. Independence Day Celebration – Harrison Town Fair
July 2, 2017 | 10:30 AM until 6:00 PM
If you already have big plans for the Fourth of July, you still don’t have to miss this two-days-in-advance town fair, which invites your family to come celebrate for free. This event will feature everything from food and live music to games and blown-up attractions the kids will love.

5. Fireworks and Apple Pie Content in Colts Neck
July 3, 2017 | All Day
If you’re an apple pie enthusiast (and who isn’t?) this event is one for the books. The Great American Apple Pie Contest, organized by the Women’s Club of Colts Neck, kicks off a day full of Independence celebrations. Additional activities include a flag ceremony with the Naval Weapons Station Earle Color Guard and live music by Colts Neck Community Band and Moon Dance Band. Food served includes hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, ice cream, cotton candy, and more fun treats. Fireworks will kick off at dusk.

6. Celebrate Our Stripes and Stars

7. Summit’s 70th Annual Mayor’s 4th of July and Food Truck Festival
July 4, 2017 | 9:45 AM – 10:00 PM
This highly anticipated day-long Independence Day celebration attracts New Jersey families from across the region. This festive day begins with the Children’s Decorated Bicycle Parade and continues with a full schedule of exciting events including a Food Truck Festival, Flag Raising Ceremony, DJ Family Dance Party, City Services Softball Game, and live entertainment. Closing out the evening is the Grand Fireworks Display – a perfect end to a perfect day.

8. Sea Isle City July 4th Weekend Celebration

9. Oceanfest

10. July 4th Jubilee

This annual, free Independence Day event in Princeton will be fun and filled with ice cream and bluegrass music, and it’ll be a chance for your kids to learn the history of the Fourth of July. At this festival, children will have a chance to “meet” George Washington, “sign” the Declaration of Independence, and create their own Star-Spangled craft. 11. Free Yoga at Whole Foods

14. New Jersey State Barbeque Championship

This is going make some people hungry, but here it goes: This free, three-day, open-air festival is not only going to be filled with ribs, chicken, and brisket cook-offs, but it’ll also feature professional cooking demonstrations and food served by competing vendors.
