Dena Farash created The Mindful Mom Revolution to help mothers like herself achieve mindfulness, calm, and accountability in their lives. Through meditation, energy work, reiki, and working with the chakra system, Dena aims to show women that, “the power to create calm in their home begins with creating calm within.” NJMOM learned all about the powerful online support community Dena built, how her personal training business of 12 years inspired this new chapter in her career, plus her favorite spots to adventure with her two little ones around New Jersey — we’re adding Historic Smithville’s Renaissance Faire to our bucket list!

NJMOM: What do you offer to your clients and how is it different than other professionals in your field?
Dena: The Mindful Mom Revolution is a community that offers workshops in which women learn first-hand how to create peace within, so that they can create peace at home. Within this community, women are free to work together to become the best version of themselves. Moms can stay connected at home through our Facebook Group, The Mindful Mom Revolution, where women are encouraged to post and share what has worked well for them in their parenthood journey, or seek guidance in areas where they still need assistance. We support each other through this platform and come together as women looking to raise the best versions of their children.
NJMOM: What inspired you to get into your line of work?
Dena: My children are my number one inspiration! After having a difficult time adjusting to being a mom of two kids under two, I felt that I needed to change my internal circumstances. I wasn’t feeling fulfilled, I was quick to stress, and I had struggled with my new identity as a mom. I decided to begin a formal meditation practice and over time, felt a tremendous shift in how I was showing up both as a mom and as an individual. NJMOM: What is your favorite part about your business?
Dena: My favorite part about my business is continuously learning from other woman. Moms are the most amazingly strong, wondrous people there are! We go through so much raising kids and creating a new sense of identity for ourselves, which causes us to learn and grow every day. When placed in the right setting, women have a beautiful ability to support and hold space for each other’s struggles, challenges, and growth processes.
NJMOM: What is your background in your business expertise?
Dena: Prior to The Mindful Mom Revolution, I ran my own personal training businesses for 12 years, and I currently own a franchise territory called Baby Boot Camp where I work with woman who are adjusting to new motherhood, or becoming a mother of multiple children. I’ve been able to create a sense of community through Baby Boot Camp and now am blessed to do the same through The Mindful Mom Revolution.
NJMOM: What are you most proud of in your career?
Dena: I’m most proud of the traction that we’ve been able to achieve with The Mindful Parenting Revolution, and the interest it has generated among big names, including Elena Brower. Also, witnessing our Facebook community grow, as woman post and communicate their triumphs and challenges while finding themselves through motherhood, has been such a rewarding experience. I love waking up every day and seeing women who have never even met respond to each other’s questions about spirituality, mindfulness, and parenting in an open and respectful way.

NJMOM: What is something few people know about you?
Dena: In a previous life, I aspired to work in the music industry and even spent a year working in New York City for the Marketing Manager at Shady Records. I also competed in a fitness competition which took me years to achieve!
NJMOM: What can we expect from you in the new year?
Dena: Personal growth. I am on a journey to heal myself so that I can help others heal. I love attending workshops and learning from teachers who help me to understand the way the universe works. Professionally, we are going to be offering more workshops that help parents connect to themselves in order to create deeper connections with their children.
NJMOM: What charitable cause are you most passionate about?
Dena: I’m very passionate about Mothers Without Borders, which strengthens families and empowers women in Zambia, Africa. My heart is in helping moms create the best life possible for themselves and their children. Most recently, I have been learning about the women and child refugees from North Korea, and I am determined to find some way to help them.
NJMOM: Who are your role models?
Dena: I look up to and have a lot of respect for figures including Gabby Bernstein, Oprah, and Tony Robbins. On a broader scale, I admire anyone living in their absolute truth, and helping others to live in theirs.
NJMOM: What is the best piece of advice that a role model ever gave to you?
Dena: My dad once said, “The worst thing that anyone can ever say to you is ‘no,’ and ‘no‘ will never break you; it will just be a decision, and then you can move on.”
NJMOM: Do you have a favorite quote you live by?
Dena:
How you do one thing is how you do everything.
I like this quote because it makes me uncomfortable. For example, if I think about the times when I’ve read a book only 85% of the way through, it makes me wonder in what other areas of my life have I not given 100%, and how my life could be different if I did.
NJMOM: What are your favorite things to do in New Jersey with your family?
Dena: I love the transitional seasons – Fall and Spring are our favorites. We love to be outdoors and go on hikes at Cheesequake State Park in Matawan or other local trails. We also make it a yearly tradition to visit the Renaissance Faire held in Historic Smithville.
NJMOM: What is the best part about being a mom for you?
Dena: Being able to love so deeply and unconditionally is the most rewarding part of being a mother. Hearing my kids crack up laughing, watching them become who they are meant to be, learning and growing from one another, and understanding that these souls have always been meant for me; these kids are here to teach me deep lessons and help me grow in ways I could never have imagined.
NJMOM: What are your favorite businesses in New Jersey?
Dena: Some of our absolute favorite businesses are Coco Beans Play Café in Tinton Falls to get the energy out, Satori Academy of Martial Arts in Oakhurst when it’s time to train, and La Cipollina Restaurant in Freehold for our favorite Italian food in a warm atmosphere.
NJMOM: Where do you reside and vacation in New Jersey?
Dena: I grew up in Freehold and currently live in Hazlet with my family. I love living in Monmouth County because of the convenience it offers. Only an hour away from Philly, not too far from the hills of Pennsylvania, and an hour away from New York City and upstate, we have access to any activity we desire in all seasons.
NJMOM: What advice might you have for a fellow NJMOMpreneur who is just starting out?
Dena: My advice is to do what you feel called to do, and ditch the excuses. (That’s the personal trainer in me!) Be authentic, be true to yourself, and most importantly, find ways that you can use your strengths to help others.
NJMOM: Anything else you’d like to tell moms in New Jersey?
Dena: I’d like to tell moms that the power to create calm in their homes begins with creating calm within. Motherhood can trigger us in ways that we never experienced before, and if we allow it, these emotions can quickly take over. When this happens, you always have your breath. You always have a choice; a thought is just that: an opportunity to choose. If you are overwhelmed by a thought that is not serving you, choose again. Choose gratitude, and you will see your situation immediately change for the better.
