National Read A Book Day is September 6th

NJMOM wants to know how families in New Jersey are spending National Read A Book Day on Tuesday, September 6, 2016.

Nationwide, schools and libraries are welcoming students back to school by encouraging little readers to spend the day getting lost in a book. Although reading can usually be seen as an isolated, personal activity, this holiday urges readers to share the experience with friends and family:

• Read aloud to family members young and old
• Trade favorite books with your best friend
• Form a reading circle and take turns telling the story as a group.
• Build a special reading fort for your little one to cozy up in all day

There are many fun ways to read with your child. You could read a book, of course, but you could also read and prepare a recipe, read a letter from a family member or friend and write one in return, or even have your child help you read (and write) your grocery list. All of these activities can help develop your child’s love of reading!
