What makes Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm unique

Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm has been welcoming families to their farm for generations, upholding the beauty and tradition of the historic spot. What makes it so special is that the farm builds lasting connections with its guests. Couples who come here to get married return a few years later for a baby shower, a child’s first birthday, or a family gathering. And in between those big moments, families create new traditions as they come back for strawberry or apple picking, pumpkin season, one of the farm’s kids’ or evening events, or a family photo shoot. Four-legged family members are also welcome, thanks to their Paws Friendly policy where families can bring well-behaved pets on a leash.

Fall at the farm

Fall is Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm’s biggest season, where picking and seasonal farm activities are the highlights. Families can wander through the pumpkin patch and pick pumpkins right off the vine, and head to the apple orchard to pluck the apples from the trees, with kids helping to fill the buckets along the way. Beyond the picking, kids will love all the family-friendly activities, including a 5-acre corn maze, sunflower fields, a hayride tour, a visit to the animal farm, and lots of fall treats at the market. Don’t miss the live music, The Farmhouse Grill, and wine tastings at the Tomasello Winery in the autumn too.

Summer at Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm

During the summer, Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm shines with peaches, blackberries, field flowers (zinnias, cosmos, sunflowers), and cherry tomatoes. It’s also when the Farm Market is full of homemade treats, unique gifts, and fresh-picked produce. Kids can hop on a hayride tour of the orchards and fields at the farm or visit farm animals on the animal farm. And summer is when the farm hosts special events like Books at the Barn: A Locust Hall Book Club, Barnyard Buddies, and Evening on the Farm, where you can take hayrides, have dinner from The Farmhouse Grill, enjoy live music, ice cream, and wine from Tomasello Winery.

Winter at Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm

In the winter, check out the cozy activities like cookie decorating, pictures with the miniature ponies, crafts, and a Holiday Market. Kids can meet the Big Guy in Red at Breakfast or Dinner with Santa, while parents can sign up to learn how to make a custom wreath. Make sure to stop by their cafe to grab holiday snacks and hot chocolate, or warm up at the fire pit and make some tasty s’mores.

Spring at Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm

In spring, as the weather warms and the snow melts, Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm reopens for the season to welcome guests back. Picking season begins again with strawberries, sugar snap peas, and radishes. Spring also welcomes families to start their picking tradition that continues well into summer and fall, year after year, developing a connection to Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm. It’s also prime time for field trips to the farm, to learn about where food comes from and how it’s grown.

The BEST apple cider donuts, a market, and a tasting room

If there’s one thing you can’t pass up at Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm, it’s the apple cider donuts, especially when they’re warm and fresh from the bakery. All ages love them and their famous “Cider Biters,” an apple cider donut topped with ice cream. They also offer lots of sweet treats, including seasonal pies and cookies. The Café & Creamery serves lemonades, Johnson-made cold brew, and hand-dipped ice cream in classic flavors. Beyond the sweets, the farm raises its own beef and pork, available at the weekend Farmhouse Grill and in select cuts at the market. You can also shop for local honey, jams and jellies, marinades, home décor, and unique gifts. For adults, the Tomasello Winery tasting room offers wine tastings, bottles to take home, and glasses to enjoy while visiting the farm.

FAQs

What should I wear?

For your visit, we recommend wearing closed-toed shoes, light-colored clothing, sunscreen, and a hat. Backpacks and coolers are not allowed in the picking fields.

Can I bring a stroller?

Strollers with bottom baskets will be checked before leaving the field. Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm is a working farm, so be mindful of uneven ground while exploring the property.

What’s the biggest season at the farm?

Fall is naturally the biggest season; however, they grow crops throughout the year (May to November), and you can experience all seasons at the farm.

Where can I find the picking schedule?

Before visiting, be sure to check Locust Hall’s U-Pick page for updates on picking seasons. Typical U-Pick produce seasons include strawberries (mid-May to June), peaches, sunflowers, field flowers, and blackberries (summer), and pumpkins, sunflowers, and apples (available during the Fall Festival in September and October). All U-Pick activities are weather- and crop-dependent, so call ahead for the latest updates.

Are there special events at the farm?

Be sure to visit their Farmer’s Market and stay tuned for festive holiday fun.

Is there anything new at the farm for 2026?

Not “new” to the farm or family, but this year, the farm has switched back to hayrides being the main transportation to the picking fields. They wanted to bring back hayrides as part of the Johnson Farm family experience.
