Whether you’re a pro or a newbie, paddleboarding is the kind of sport that, once you start, you’ll want to do again and again. And luckily, New Jersey has both calm and thrilling spots where you can do it—from the Hudson River with scenic NYC views to the ocean and bays, getting on a stand-up paddleboard (aka SUP) is a fun and fit way to spend a summer afternoon. Paddle Out
Ready to get on a paddleboard with the fam and spend some time on the water? Located on the intercoastal in Manasquan, you can rent the paddleboards and equipment on the spot and head out stat (they will show you places to paddle and where not to go). There are also guided tours if you have a group.

Oceanport Paddle Club
With a “Positive Vibes Only” slogan, you can’t go wrong at Oceanport Paddle Club. There is something for everyone here, including rentals, classes, lessons, and public activities throughout the summer. Try out their Mindfulness on the Tides program, where you will have a holistically-based experience centered around empowerment, confidence, and connecting with nature.

Sandy Hook Kayaks
A beautiful spot to SUP and glide through the water, the sandy shores of the Spermaceti Cove make for a memorable day. One of the best things about this location is the 250-year-old Sandy Hook Lighthouse which is an excellent activity after you have paddled. There are private lessons, SUP Yoga, and rentals.
