Hearts are not only for Valentine’s Day—February is American Heart Month, and recognizing the importance of heart health, RWJ Barnabas Health Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Somerset and Bridgewater Commons are teaming up to host the Go RED Fashion Show & Family Health Festival on Saturday, February 14, at Bridgewater Commons in Bridgewater. This FREE event will not only showcase the latest fashions in shades of red but also feature kids’ fitness classes, friendship bracelet workshops, blood pressure screenings, and, most importantly, provide info on how to stay heart-healthy. And everyone who attends gets a chance to enter to win a $500 mall shopping spree as well as take advantage of special offers from participating stores. Fun family activities, screenings, and shopping sprees
The festivities kick off at noon with events for the whole family. Kids will want to join in on the kids’ fitness sessions, friendship bracelet workshops, and face painting. And don’t forget to bring along their favorite plushie so they can stop by the Teddy Bear Clinic for a teddy tune-up. For moms, Rachana Kulkarni, MD, a cardiologist at RWJUH Somerset and member of RWJBarnabas Health Medical Group, will discuss the symptoms of heart attacks in women and strategies for good heart health. Plus, everyone can take advantage of the free blood pressure screenings. At 2 PM, you’ll want to grab a seat in Center Court for the Go RED Fashion Show, hosted by stylist Leslie Patrizio. Check out the latest fashions in shades of red as heart survivors and healthcare practitioners walk the runway, modeling the outfits from the shops at Bridgewater Commons.
