This weekend’s activities will have you bundled up to enjoy the beauty of New Jersey in the winter. Explore nature at Terhune Orchards or catch a Wolf Watch Tour. Mom and dad, enjoy a night out this week at Application Pending and let Small Factory babysit. Since this is the first full weekend of February, admission is free at seven museums throughout the state thanks to Bank of America Free Museum Days.

1) Learn How to Make A Heart Box
Saturday February 7th from 9:00am-12:00pm
Learn how to build a heart box for Valentine’s Day at your local Home Depot.  Children ages 5-12 will keep their craft, receive a certificate of achievement, a Home Depot workshop apron and a commemorative pin.

2) National Geographic Kids Club
Saturday February 7th at 9:00am
The Freehold Raceway Mall invites you the first Saturday of every month for the National Geographic Kids Club.  Located in the Food Court on the upper level, the Kids Club is hosted by 94.3 The Point.  Enjoy fun activities and crafts with a Nat Geo theme, plus free carousel rides until 11am!

3) Read and Explore
Saturday February 7th at 10:00am
One of the Princeton area’s best family farms, Terhune Orchards, invites you to their monthly Read and Explore program this Saturday.  Your family will learn about animal tracks around the farm and read a story.  After story time, make bird feeders to take home to help keep the birds fed throughout the winter.

4) Winterfest
Saturday February 7th from 1:00pm-3:00pm
Children of all ages are welcome at the 2nd annual Winterfest at the Madison Public Library.  Enjoy ice painting, DIY snow globes, a live-sculpture demonstration and more!  At 2:00pm, Mad Science will be performing magic tricks and science experiments featuring the power of gas for children ages 6-10.  Children ages 3-5 can partake in the Penguin Party for special penguin themed songs, crafts and games.

5 Valentine’s Day Card Making
Saturday February 7th at 10:00am
Pottery Barn Kids is partnering with Bright Horizons Foundation for Children to create handmade Valentine’s Day cards.  Children can create two cards: one to take home and one for a child in need.

6) StarLab Planetarium Show
Saturday February 7th at 1:30pm
Explore the night sky at the Monmouth Museum MMKids StarLab Planetarium Show.  This 20 minute presentation is perfect for children 7+.  Learn to locate the constellations and the mythology behind them in the night sky.  When the show is over, enjoy the hands-on activities in the Becker Children’s Wing.

7) Kid’s Night Out

8) Father Daughter Dance

It’s Mom’s Night Out in New York City!  Moms, leave the kids with dad and get your tickets to see Application Pending!  This new comedy will have you in stitches.  Application Pending is the tale of the cutthroat world of kindergarten admissions as a New York private school.  Find out more about this new comedic performance here!

10) Dinosaurs of the Deep

Are you ready to travel millions years ago back in time when giant prehistoric monsters ruled the seas?  If so, then it’s time to take a visit to the the Dinosaurs of the Deep exhibit at Adventure Aquarium. Come face-to-face with over 20 larger-than-life deadly prehistoric marine reptiles.

11) Wolf Watch Tour
Sunday February 8th from 10:30am-12:00pm
Join the Lakota Wolf Preserve owners Jim and Becky on a Wolf Watch Tour.  This one-of-a-kind experience will teach you about wolf packs, their eating habits and other interesting facts about wolves.  Take priceless photos, watch the wolves play and maybe if you are lucky, you will hear that iconic wolf howl.  Also on the preserve are bobcats and fox.

12)  The Can Do Duck
Sunday February 8th at 11:00am
Can Do Duck: The Musical is a positive motivational musical for children and families about believing in yourself and saying “I can”.   The musical is based on the successful children’s book series The Can Do Duck that has positively influenced and helped people overcome challenges all over the world.

13) Freckleface the Musical
Sunday February 8th at 1:00pm
Freckleface Strawberry learns everyone is different in this production at the Forum Theater in Metuchen.  Freckleface Strawberry will do anything to cover up her freckles, but with the help of her friends she finds out everything is special.  Based on the story by actress Julianne Moore, this musical is for all ages.  Be sure to meet the cast after the play!
