An inspiring format

In addition to one of the strongest fields on the LPGA Tour, 24 of the top juniors in the Rolex AJGA Girls Rankings will also be competing at Liberty National, as the Mizuho Americas Open will concurrently host the AJGA (American Junior Golf Association) Invitational – a groundbreaking format that creates an unprecedented week of education, mentorship, and access to further inspire the next generation of LPGA Tour players. The 2024 AJGA Invitational Champion Gianna Clemente will return to defend her title, and Junior Golfer Aphrodite Deng from Short Hills, NJ, returns to compete at Liberty National Golf Club as part of the AJGA Invitational. During the tournament, LPGA icon and Major Champion Michelle Wie West will also be in attendance, serving as an ambassador and tournament host for Mizuho Americas, as well as a role model to the young players. “With world #1 Nelly Korda and rising LPGA star Rose Zhang as past champions, we anticipate another memorable week of action as the best golfers in the world tee it up at this prestigious venue,” says Michelle Wie West. “Whether you plan to attend with friends and family or enjoy it through our incredible hospitality offerings, this tournament is such a fun experience and offers a terrific platform to celebrate the world-class athletes on the LPGA Tour.” Gianna Clemente also added some advice for young girls looking to follow their dreams. “I fell in love with golf at a very young age and participated in my first tournament when I was five. I continued to work hard—there were some hard moments for sure—but if you are genuinely passionate about the game and love it, I think the hard work doesn’t feel like work, it’s fun,” says Clemente. Also in the spotlight will be inaugural AJGA Invitational Champion Yana Wilson, who has received a sponsor exemption and will compete in the professional field. Further, 2024 AJGA Invitational Champion Gianna Clemente and New Jersey-based Junior golfer Aphrodite Deng (Short Hills) will also headline the AJGA Invitational Field set to compete alongside LPGA Tour players.

A week filled with special events and awards

The tournament is also home to the Mizuho Americas DrivHER Summit, an inspirational day of learning and activities for Girls Inc., the official charitable partner of the Mizuho Americas Open, which helps Girls Inc. members develop the confidence they need to become leaders in their communities. The tournament will also host the inaugural Breaking Barriers Summit, in collaboration with Front Office Sports. This women’s leadership conference will be headlined by Michelle Wie West on Thursday, May 8th, with morning programming to feature top executives and athletes, followed by a golf clinic hosted by Wie West. Also new this year—Mizuho is launching the A Name Worth Knowing Award, which provides a Liberty National ACE Grant to a female AJGA golfer from the Tri-State Area or attending a school in the region. “I love that Mizuho created this award as it aligns with their corporate values, recognizing a deserving amateur who demonstrates integrity, passion, agility, creativity, and empathy,” says Wie West. “The A Name Worth Knowing Award is a natural extension of Mizuho’s growing impact among the next generation of women athletes.”

A golf course like no other

With sweeping Hudson River views, the Liberty National Golf Course is as gorgeous as it is competitive, with the backdrop of the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan skyline along each hole. This is the third year they have hosted the LPGA, and the 18-hole championship course has also previously hosted PGA TOUR Playoff events, as well as the 2017 Presidents Cup. 

LPGA staying in New Jersey

Mizuho Americas, the New York-headquartered arm of Mizuho Financial Group (NYSE: MFG)  has renewed its title sponsor agreement for the Mizuho Americas Open through 2030 and will raise the 2026 purse to $3.25 million, one of the largest outside of the Major championships. The tournament will maintain its successful format, where the American Junior Golf Association’s future stars compete alongside the best women golfers in the world.The new five-year agreement will allow the marquee tournament to remain in the New York City Metro area, providing unmatched benefits to the LPGA players, AJGA junior golfers, and the local community. After three years at the prestigious Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, NJ, the Mizuho Americas Open will travel just a few miles west to Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, NJ, for 2026 and 2027, and then back to its long-term home at Liberty National for the remaining years through 2030. Additionally, LPGA Tour Icon and Mizuho Americas Brand Ambassador Michelle Wie West will continue to serve as Tournament Host.

What to know before you go

The Mizuho Americas Open is open to the public from May 8 to 11, 2025, at Liberty National Golf Club. Several ticket options are available for the 2025 event, including general admission for $25-$ 40, which provides access to the tournament grounds on any day from Thursday through Sunday (gates open at 7 AM), and a weekly pass for $100. Veterans, first responders, active military, and juniors 17 and under receive FREE general admission. Additionally, upgraded tickets, which include access to the exclusive clubhouse or an upscale terrace overlooking the 16th green, are also available. General parking is located at 11 Marin Boulevard in Jersey City, and parking is $10 per day. The ferry is also available for $20 round-trip from the Brookfield Place Terminal in Downtown Manhattan, and it leaves every 30 minutes before the first tee time and it ends 30 minutes following play.
