So this year’s Father’s Day won’t be the same as years’ past—but there are a lot of reasons why this will be one he won’t forget. Celebrate dad the socially-distant way this year with outdoor activities that let you finally get out and beat quarantine fatigue. From heading to the beach to playing rounds of mini-golf, read on for these 6 safe and fun ways to celebrate your number one guy.

Here’s how to spend Father’s Day 2020 in New Jersey

Plan a beach day

Beaches are officially open throughout New Jersey and lucky for us, getting to spend a day on the sand is within reach. So pack up the kids, the chairs, towels, and some lunch, and hit the beach with dad for relaxing day in the sun and by the sea.

The charming vineyards and patio at Bellview Winery are a welcome space to go after so many months at home.

Have a vineyard picnic

Now that patio seating is open at restaurants, why not head to a beautiful spot to stretch out and spend the day? Stopping at a local vineyard will give you the whole family a much-needed breather from being at home. Beneduce Winery in Pittstown will have live music for a Sunday picnic (spaced out, of course)—bring your won food, and buy the wine and wine glasses in the tasting room. And Bellview Winery in Landisville buy a bottle or a growler and sit on the patio—they will have patio seating (reservations are needed), food trucks, as well as a steel drum band, Sound of the Island. As per state guidelines, capacity is limited for dining anywhere, so be sure to check ahead of time for availability.

Drive-in for brunch or a movie

Drive-up dining and movies are the latest social-distancing trend, and what better way to celebrate dad by taking a car ride for a nostalgic car-hop restaurant or movie? Plus your littles will get the biggest kick out of being served right in your car. Check out Brownstone Pancake Factory in Englewood Cliffs, Weber’s Drive-In in Pennsauken, or hit up one of Sonic’s 12 locations around New Jersey for a fun and different kind of meal. Afterward, make a day of it and head to a drive-in movie at Delsea Drive-In Theater or Demarest Farms, or check out our list of drive-in theaters around New Jersey right now.

Go berry picking

Try a pick-your-own farm for a fun day of gathering strawberries, blueberries, cherries, and more. Check out Lindsay’s Pick Your Own Blueberries in Hammonton, Johnson’s Corner Farm in Medford, or Terhune Orchards in Princeton. Be sure to inquire first about procedures (some are only taking reservations) and safety measures before you go.

Watch a concert at home

Bring the laptop out to the backyard while you BBQ with dad for a Laurie Berkner Family Concert. This legendary children’s musician is giving a virtual live performance especially for Father’s Day. Sing, dance, play games and interact through your device as Laurie performs your favorite songs in your home. Tickets are $20 (discounts available for needy families) and the proceeds will go towards the band operations until in-person concerts can resume.

Take dad mini-golfing

What dad doesn’t love golf—especially a rousing game of miniature golf. Yes, outdoor mini-golf is now open with safety measures in place, making it a good social-distancing activity. Hit up The Funplex in Mount Laurel or East Hanover, Jenkinson’s Boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach, and Casino Pier & Breakwater Beach in Seaside Heights.
