New at Six Flags Great Adventure this year

Coming later this spring is the world’s tallest pendulum ride, the brand-new Wonder Woman Lasso of Truth, which is a whopping 17 stories tall, and clocks speeds of up to 75 miles per hour. While not all of the fourteen coasters will be available during the “soft” opening weekend, it’s a great opportunity to kick off some outdoor family fun.  Whether it’s a sunny afternoon on the rides, or a journey through the safari to see 1,200 animals from six continents, kids and kids at heart will be all smiles to be back at Six Flags Great Adventure.

For the first time, Six Flags Great Adventure is running an Aril Thrill Sale on season passes and memberships. Grab your season pass at up to 55% off, or get 3 months free if you sign up for the yearly membership. Buy 2+ passes and save even more. What you need to know before you go to

Whenever possible, we prefer to plan a visit when attendance is the lightest which is usually weekdays during the summer and any day in April, May, June and September. Be sure to review their park map to familiarize yourself with the layout of the park and plan your visit before you you get there; you’ll be so happy you did! They even have a downloadable app you can use to coordinate your visit. Six Flags Great Adventure has some great family-friendly concerts and events all season long that are included in your ticket price. Check their schedule online, or Guest Relations at the park to be sure you take advantage of these fun shows.

#NJMOM tip: be sure to ride the most popular rides (Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom, Kingda Ka, SUPERMAN: Ultimate Flight, Nitro, BATMAN: The Ride, El Toro and GREEN LANTERN) early in the day or after 6 p.m if possible. You’ll hopefully bypass major lines this way! For a perfect spot to relax and take a break from the rides, snag a spot underneath the water foundation in the front of the park, or stop into the Wilderness Theater for some family entertainment. For an air-conditioned escape from the sun, head to Granny’s Kitchen, Yum Yum Cafe, Best of the West, or any of the little shops lining the park.

Although Six Flags Great Adventure has plenty of food options, they are not exactly the healthiest or cheapest options (just keeping it real). If you can, head to the park right after breakfast, hop on as many rides as possible and take a trip to your vehicle mid-day for a healthier, packed lunch. Be sure to get your hands stamped as you exit the park so you can simply re-enter through the re-entry gates. You can exit and re-enter the park as many times as you’d like prior to 8 p.m., but must purchase an additional ticket if you wish to leave and re-enter after 8 p.m.
