COVID-19 Vaccine Appointments Available for Pregnant and Post-Partum Women
January 25 and January 28
In New Jersey, January 23 is recognized as Maternal Health Awareness Day, and in recognition, RWJBarnabas Health will host an event to promote improvements in maternal and infant health outcomes. The COVID-19 vaccine rates among pregnant and post-partum women around the state is low, and a small, but significant number of unvaccinated pregnant patients are now requiring clinical care. To address this issue, Jersey City Medical Center, a facility of RWJBarnabas Health will have appointments available for pregnant and post-partum women to receive the COVID-19 vaccine on January 25 and 28. According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for pregnant women. In addition, everyone who is age 18 and older, including those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, trying to get pregnant now, or might become pregnant in the future, is recommended for a vaccine. Getting a COVID-19 vaccine offers protection from severe illness from COVID-19, and a healthy mom is important for a healthy baby. If you are pregnant, you might want to have a conversation with your healthcare provider about COVID-19 vaccination.
Jersey City Medical Center, 355 Grand Street, Jersey City, NJ 07302
For more information about this event, or to schedule a vaccine appointment, contact Sheridan Blackwell at 551-200-3143 or Sheridan.Blackwell@rwjbh.org
