One of our favorite getaways close to home is Long Beach Island. We recently had the chance to spend 24 hours down in LBI and took advantage of the adults-only boutique hotel, Daddy O, situated a block from the beach in Brant Beach. This little hideaway has the only rooftop bar on the island, cozy and modern rooms, a shaded back patio for brunching, and lots of amazing cocktails to please him or her.

So many great amenities at Daddy O Hotel & Restaurant

Daddy O is a seasonal, grown-ups-only hotel that was created with comfort and style in mind. Bonus: it’s just a block or two from the beach, shops, great restaurants, and it has it’s own rooftop bar.

Not your typical “sleepy” overnight spot, Daddy O is a 22-room boutique hotel that boasts a modern, urban chic interior. The rooms offer complimentary wifi, bottled water, coffee, and chocolate on your pillow. Your comfy room includes a rain shower in the bathroom and an extensive TV cable package if you decide to spend the evening in.

If you’re on Long Beach Island, there’s no doubt you’re looking for some time in the sun with your toes in the sand. The staff at Daddy O want to make sure you take advantage of New Jersey’s beautiful shoreline, so they offer additional amenities like complimentary beach badges, beach chairs, beach towels, and bike rental – everything you need for a relaxing day in the sun. There are even outdoor showers and dressing rooms available for your use after your outdoor activities.

Dining at Daddy O

At Daddy O’s Restaurant the menu is delicious and includes fresh seafood, salads, and locally grown produce. We highly recommend their popular mussel pots: 1 lb of Prince Edward Island mussels served with your choice of sauce and any dishes that include their seared Barnegat scallops. For the full dining menu at Daddy O, check it out here.

After dinner drinks, anyone?

Head up to the cozy rooftop bar at Daddy O for a fun and delicious cocktail with views of the island. Their carefully crafted bar menu includes an extensive wine selection, specialty cocktail menu, and plenty of domestic, imported and craft beers (including local NJ beers) for your enjoyment. Added bonus, enjoy handmade sushi rolls outside under string lights in your comfy lounge chair.

PS– the Daddy O rooftop is currently the only rooftop bar in LBI, and one of the top ten rooftop bars in America, according to The Daily Meal.

Dining in LBI

The Plantation

One of the few places in LBI that is open year round, The Plantation is a beautiful restaurant with an eclectic menu that features land and sea items, cocktails, and delicious desserts. The menu also has plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options for all guests to enjoy.

Their carefully curated menu of cocktails include local faves such as the Weekend Warrior (Sweet Tea Vodka, Lemoncello, Mint, Lemon, Honey, Iced Tea) or the Lady Maiden (Sky Citrus Vodka, Agave, Lime, Juiced Watermelon, Mint), as well as local craft beer and a full wine list.

The Plantation’s desserts are so good you won’t want to share…sorry hubs. Try the key lime pie or the Tahitian creme brulee, both #NJMOM faves.

Tucker’s Tavern

Tucker’s Tavern is an American Tavern that features gastro-pub style food with a twist. Their menu features creative beer-centric food and coastal beach favorites as well as a very cool nautical bar with craft cocktails, craft beer, and wine. Indulge in their raw bar which features locally harvested clams, jumbo shrimp cocktail, and east coast oysters. Their main menu features seafood dishes and wood-fired items like grilled Faroe Island salmon.

Looking for a cup of joe? Coastal Coffee Co

Need a caffeine fix? Head over to Coastal Coffee in Beach Haven. This cafe specializes in locally roasted fine coffee and espresso, handcrafted and house made 24 hour cold brewed coffee, and teas on tap. Plus, they offer a variety of healthy and fresh food options, including build your own acai and pitaya bowls, sweet and savory toasts, smoothies, and pastries.

Ready to shop? Stop by The Local Market and Kitchen

We fell in love at first sight with The Local Market and Kitchen in Ship Bottom. The local market has a little bit of something for everyone: coffee, tea, pastries, sandwiches, beauty products, flowers, plants, freshly baked bread, homemade juice, freshly made soup, etc. Grab and go or stay and relax.

Fantasy Island Amusement Park: not just for the kids

Amusement parks aren’t just for kids. Boasting 19 amusement rides, games, an arcade, funnel cakes galore, an ice cream shop, and a classic carousel, Fantasy Island Amusement Park is a clean, safe amusement park that is fun for ages 2 to 92. Face-off in skee-ball, jump onto their spinning roller coaster, Tilt-A-Whirl, and iconic Ferris Wheel. Bonus: Ship Bottom Brewery is right around the corner from Daddy O’s.
