Art Classes:
North Jersey: Visual Arts Center of New Jersey in Summit offers an array of art classes for kids during the Winter Session, starting in January 2017. Classes include Kindergarten Art Sampler, Time Capsule, and Explore Sculpture. Kids workshops are one or two day courses that include 3D Fairy Houses, Create Your Own Dollhouse, and Two Days on the Wheel (a pottery workshop). The Mentor Series is available for young artists looking for one-on-one instruction to hone their skills.

Central Jersey: ArtWorks in Trenton blends fine art with “serious” fun to create art classes that kids love. For teens looking to express their creativity in a different way, try Special Effects Makeup 101 for Teens to learn the basics of gory special effects horror makeup in a fun, hands-on atmosphere. North Jersey: L3 Academy in Montclair has a winter class schedule that is packed with the best STEM classes one can imagine for their little one. Choose a course from Brick Academy for all things LEGO including robotics and motorized machines, think critically in Chess with the Chess Master or Stock Wizards: Financial Education. Other course categories your STEAM enthusiast might be interested are Minecraft Madness, Coding Academy, Science, Math Academy, and Young Learners. There is something for everybody at L3 Academy!
Central Jersey: Engineering for Kids in Edison and South Brunswick Township gets children excited about math, science and engineering concepts by introducing them to exciting projects from rockets to skyscrapers, from computer science to robotics, from Minecraft to 3D-printing. Little ones are invited to join the Old Bridge Apprentice Engineer Club to how real world engineers solve problems. Junior Computer Science: Music Adventure is a 6 week program that teaches students how to create their own instrument sounds using the programs Scratch and Makey Makey.
South Jersey: Rowan University in Glassboro offers real college-level courses to South Jersey high school students through the university’s STEM and Bio-Med Academy. High school students living within 20 miles of Glamssboro have the opportunity to earn up to 16 credits with this unique School Choice Program by taking on-site classes at Rowan University in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.
Creative Writing Classes:
North Jersey: Writers Theatre of New Jersey in Madison presents numerous opportunities for children and teens to exercise their skills in creative writing through several mediums and outlets. New Jersey Writers Project offers several residency and enrichment programs according to your child’s school requirements. Writers Theatre of New Jersey also champions young poets and playwrights by producing programs like Poetry Out Loud, NJ Youth Poet Laureate, and the Youth Playwrights Program.
