Summer makes everything seem brighter, and visiting the beautiful sunflower farms around New Jersey is one activity that feels so happy. When you pick sunflowers or hang out in a field, you can’t help but soak up their good vibes. Luckily, New Jersey is home to a bunch of sunflower farms where you can bliss out from July into September (check with each farm to find out their peak blooming time). And while most let you pick stems, there are a few fields solely for snapping insta-worthy photos or getting lost in a maze among the blooms. This 2-acre sunflower field with over 35,0000 blooms opens in July. You can pick your own and snap photos, but you must make a reservation beforehand.

At Johnson’s Locust Hall Farm, sunflowers are from July through October. You can pick your own flowers, apples, and pumpkins in the fall.

Dalton Farms – Sunflowers tentatively planned for August 29-October 27, 2024
Dalton Farms is an excellent spot to pick sunflowers. Sunflower season runs from Labor Day through October, but you can stay up-to-date on when the fields are blooming by visiting their website.

Hill Creek Farms – Farm reopens September 13, 2024
Look out for the farm reopening in September. Kids will love the train ride around the farm and digging for treasure in the Gem Mine, while parents will love the newly opened Wine Garden, with outdoor seating and fresh-from-the-farm fare.

Melick’s Town Farm – Sunflowers are typically available in mid-July
Sunflowers are pick-your-own from July to September at Melick’s Town Farm’s Oldwick location. Kids can say hi to the pot-bellied pig at the farmstand.

During Dino Fest, you’ll have a chance to interact with lifesize dinosaurs, see dinosaur shows, listen to live music, and learn more about these fascinating creatures in interactive exhibits.

Ward’s Farm NJ – Sunflowers starting July 6
Cut a bunch of sunflowers, gladiolas, and dahlias at this specialty flower farm spread over 10 acres. They also host special events in the sunflower fields during the season, including BYOB date nights, picnics, and yoga.

Snyder’s Farm – The Sunflower Trail is open during the fall festival weekends in October.
The sunflower trail offers picking in late September and October with spots for photo ops. You can bring your own shears or rent them (the fee will go towards purchasing the sunflowers).

Brodhecker Farm will have sunflowers blooming in August. Stop by the fields to admire and snap photos of the black oil seed beauties, which produce high-quality seeds and oil.

New Jersey Sunflower Trail at Von Thun Farms –The New Jersey Sunflower Trail is open now, and sunflower festivals are held in July and August.
Kids will have a ball on the sunflower trail, which is open now. Besides photo ops and picking, there are weekend hayrides, activities and games, and a sunflower festival in July and August. The Sunflower Trail is ONLY available at their Washington, NJ, location – not their South Brunswick location.
