A great way to enjoy a few hours of educational family fun, whether summer or winter (yes, you read that correctly!) is at the Jenkinson’s Aquarium in Point Pleasant. From the moment you step into the aquarium, you’ll find a world of wonder that will have your kids running to check out the various exhibits.
From penguins to fish and every creature in between, your family is bound to enjoy the preservation no matter the time of year.
Jenk’s offers an exciting afternoon for your family, whether it’s the dead of winter or the heat of the summer which is awesome when you’re looking for something fun and educational to do with your kids.
Toddlers and preschoolers love getting their first glimpses of our friends from the sea and older children can enjoy a more educational experience with hands-on exhibits. The layout of the aquarium accommodates children who want to explore on their own and run ahead, while allowing parents to trail behind them and watch them as they marvel in delight at their buddies. A win-win for everyone!
Exhibits at the aquarium include sharks, penguins, seals, a touch tank and much more. Scheduling your visit around the feeding times throughout the day is ideal because you can listen closely as they chow down on their food and be enlightened with a great educational lesson. Our last visit to Jenk’s coincided with TLC’s Shark Week, so my children were elated to learn more about the shark species.
Throughout the year, your family can enjoy a variety of events including Penguin Day, Pirate Plunders, Behind the Scenes tours, scavenger hunts or arts and crafts events.
