Kid-Friendly NJ Events This Weekend

1. Manasquan Fireman’s Fair
Tuesday July 31 – Saturday August 4, 6PM – 10:30PM

Jam out to live music and enjoy unlimited rides every night this week in Manasquan at the annual Fireman’s Fair. Keep your eyes peeled for the BlueClaws mascot, Buster, who is said to be making an appearance on Wednesday night.

2. Highlands Annual Clam Festival

Seafood-lovers unite! The 24th Annual Highlands Clam Festival features live entertainment, thrill rides, an all-you-can-eat contest, Lusty Lobster’s clam-shucking contest, and plenty of festival activities for the little ones. Climb out of your shell this weekend, and make your way down to Huddy Park for all the family fun.

3. Rutgers Gardens Peach Festival

This fun summer festival highlights one of our favorite Garden State fruits; the juicy peach. Enjoy taste testing, cooking demonstrations, and lots of family-friendly activities.

4. New Jersey State Fair/Sussex County Farm & Horse Show
Friday August 3 – Saturday August 11, 10AM – 10PM 
Sunday August 12, 10AM – 5PM
One of our favorite summer festivals is back in town – the New Jersey State Fair! During this popular weeklong fair,  your family can enjoy lots of amazing carnival rides, food, crafts, free entertainment, and special features including a Demo Derby and Monster Truck show.  If you’re planning a visit, consider taking advantage of “Dollar Day’ on Friday August 3rd where admission drops to just $1 and all rides are $1 each.

5. 7th Annual Craft Beer & Crab Festival
Saturday 10AM – 6PM

This 7th annual festival features local and regional craft beers to accompany your favorite summer dishes. Jam out with music on an outdoor stage all day, watch an old-fashioned Victorian circus with jugglers and acrobats, join the crafts and collectibles show, and sip your favorite craft beers. Crabs, crafts, and beers? Count us in!

6. Universal African Festival
Saturday 10AM – 6PM

If you’re looking for something a little different, cultural, and educational, check out the Universal African Festival. Your family is invited to celebrate and commemorate the rich and diverse cultures of Africans and African Americans. Experience live music, dance, arts and crafts, face painting, food, an honoring ceremony, and plenty of more outdoor cultural fun for the whole family.

7. NJ State Crab Festival
Saturday 11AM – 10PM

Get ready for a block party atmosphere with “crabby” fun for the entire family. Feast on bushels and bushels of blue claw crabs, chill at the beer garden, try the crabby bloody marys, and enjoy live music at 2pm and 7pm, including a Jimmy Buffet Tribute band, woohoo! At 6PM, your little ones can participate in a crab race.

8. Historic Blairstown Day
Saturday 11AM – 4PM
Blairstown Museum wants to party with your family like it’s 1899. Historic Blairstown Day will take you back in time with nostalgic entertainment, antiques, craft and food vendors, a classic car show, a birthday celebration for the town founder, and lots more fun and educational activities.

9. Rockaway Food Truck & Music Festival
Saturday 11AM – 8PM

The Just Jersey Fest is rolling into the Borough of Rockaway. This fun-filled festival offers over 25 gourmet food trucks and incredible bands that will pair well with the fine eats. Remember to pack a blanket, chair, and big appetite.

10. Corn, Tomato & Beer Festival
Saturday 12PM – 8PM (Rain Date: August 5)

It’s time to celebrate some of our favorite summertime crops that put New Jersey on the map as the Garden State. Shop decorated gift items including handcrafted furniture, fabulous florals, jewelry, wearable art, handmade soaps, candles, traditional and fine art, gourmet delights and plenty of tomatoes and corn.

11. Italian Festival & Wine Tasting
Saturday 11:30AM – 5:30PM (First Race: 12:50PM)

The Annual Italian Festival is back with an all-new Italian wine tasting activity featuring a variety of authentic Italian wines. The whole family is encouraged to savor delicious Italian food, listen to live music from the Metropolitan Festival Band, visit the Italian crafters, and enjoy a day of racing. Be sure to finish the day with a stop by one of the bocce courts for a friendly game.

12. Just Peachy Festival
Saturday & Sunday 10AM – 5PM

A festival dedicated to one of the most popular fruits – sounds, “just peachy,” doesn’t it? Festivities include plenty of activities for kids, wagon rides throughout the orchards, pony rides, face painting, games, and barnyard activities. Live music keeps the atmosphere feelin’ “peachy” all day.

13. Laurita Irish Fest
Saturday 11AM – 9PM, Sunday 11AM – 7PM

The famous Laurita Winery is inviting all families to tap into their inner Irish pride. Toe-tapping Irish music, Irish artisan displays, and great Jersey wine = fun family memories. Enjoy live entertainment, vineyard tours, Irish dancing and traditional Irish fare. Kids activities include a huge playground, bounce house, and face painting.

14. A Very Berry Festival

15. Garfield Street Fair
Sunday 10AM – 5PM
Midland Avenue will be transformed into a giant street fair and block party extravaganza. Kiddie rides, a climbing wall, pony rides, petting zoo, face painting, sand art, and temporary tattoos are just some of the fun activities for your little ones. This is a street fair, so bring your appetite because lots of great eats, of course!
