The “We Be Lit” Children’s Book Festival
The We Be LIT Children’s Book Festival is coming to Elmwood Park in East Orange, New Jersey, on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This free, family-friendly community celebration brings books, creativity, entertainment, and literacy together for an unforgettable day designed especially for children and families.
Presented by Life Is a Ballroom, LLC, We Be LIT—“Literature Inspires Tomorrow’s Leaders”—was created to help children discover the excitement of reading while seeing themselves represented in books, storytelling, art, and performance. Families will have opportunities to meet children’s book authors, enjoy live readings and performances, explore local vendors, participate in creative activities, and celebrate the power of imagination.
The festival will feature Authors Alley, children’s entertainment, interactive literacy experiences, arts and crafts, community resources, vendors, food, music, and fun for multiple age groups. Parents, educators, young readers, aspiring writers, and book lovers are all invited to attend.
Come spend the day with us as Elmwood Park becomes a place where stories come alive and the entire community gets LIT about literacy!
