Halsey Festival returns to Newark’s historic Halsey Street corridor!

The event will take place on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Halsey Street between Center Street and New Street in Newark, NJ. This year’s festival is hosted by Alexandra Bernard-Simmons, CEO/Founder of Think Like a Boss, and will showcase Newark’s vibrant community, food, art, and culture in a family-friendly atmosphere.

What’s in store?

Performances & Entertainment

– The festival opens with music curated by bunkr., setting the vibe for the afternoon.
– Newark local talent performs throughout the day, including Monique the Star, Craig Bradley, J.1.DA, and K Marques.
– From 7–9 p.m., the main stage transforms into Karaoke on Halsey Street, a returning favorite where festival-goers can take the spotlight.
– Community-driven performances feature the All Stars Project of New Jersey, Inspira Dance, and Rutgers University student organizations.
– GlassRoots, located nearby on Bleeker Street, hosts free live glassblowing demonstrations and studio tours.
– The evening concludes with “Night Under the Lights,” featuring special activations from partners including the Red Bulls and Girl Scouts.

Community Health & Civic Engagement

– RWJBarnabas Health highlights Harvest, a new Farm to Community Center expanding access to nutritious food, wellness education, and support for food entrepreneurs.
– The Urban Agriculture Cooperative provides fresh produce for the community.
– The Mobile Medical Unit offers free health screenings, including diabetes, blood pressure, and rapid HIV testing.
– A voter registration and education station provides resources to register, check registration status, and learn about upcoming elections.
