First Day Wildlife Beach Walk

Learn about this Revolutionary War battle spot while traversing the first hike of 2026. This moderate hike is open to ages 10 and up. Registration is not required.

Discover Double Trouble – First Day Hike

Get moving for a fresh start on Jan 1 with this First Day hike. This is a leisurely hike along the 1.5-mile Mill Pond Trail, and children 10 and over with an adult are welcome to join.

Holiday Light Show on the Lake
January 1-6
Visit Historic Smithville to hear your favorite holiday tunes synchronized to a unique light display. Over 120 Christmas trees, constructed from 50,000+ Christmas lights, will magically float atop Lake Meone in the center of the village. When the sky is dark, an orchestrated show of lights dances across the water to Christmas music. The show can be seen from either side of the village and the bridge.

Holiday Lights Spectacular at Turtle Back Zoo

NJ Audubon: New Year’s Resolution Hike at Hawk Rise

Start the new year with a nature walk where you will encounter birds and many other animals that stay active all winter. On this walk, you will have the chance to discuss and observe wildlife in winter’s beauty. Hot beverages will be served afterward.

Patacong Valley Model Railroad Open House

Take in the sights and sounds while exploring the layout of the Patacong Valley Model Railroad. It takes about 30-45 minutes to view the entire setup. Don’t miss the seek-and-find puzzles ranging from easy to hard.

Cutting, Splitting & Hewing
