If I knew what I know now during my first pregnancy, I would have started seeing a chiropractor from day one. When I was pregnant with my first son I didn’t know much about alternative methods of healing. The term “holistic” was so foreign to me, and I had no clue how a chiropractor or acupuncturist could help during my pregnancy. Fast forward to my second pregnancy when I was invited to visit The Spine & Sports Health Center at 720 Monroe Street in Hoboken, NJ, I knew I was going to have some of my burning questions answered.
Chiropractor, Acupuncture, Physical Therapy, Sports Management – all in one office in Hoboken
When I first visited The Spine & Sports Health Center, conveniently located in the heart of Hoboken tucked inside The Monroe Center (known for its array of boutiques, workout spots, party venues, and eateries), I was so happy from the moment I walked in the door. Their staff is super-friendly and inviting, and the space is equally calming with a bright and airy vibe. It’s a huge office with giant windows, and you have your own privacy in private rooms when visiting the doctors and therapists.
When I saw their extensive offering of treatment options (such as pain management, sports medicine, acupuncture, chiropractic services, and physical therapy), while having board-certified medical doctors on site at all times leading the treatment process, I was so excited. I love knowing their team of doctors work together to weave the two worlds of medicine (science + holistic healing) into one cohesive and customizable treatment plan made just for me. I was reminded that both Chiropractic care and Acupuncture are for everyone with the goal of keeping patients healthy, preventing injuries and disease, and to help realign and restore balance in your body so it can heal itself.
The doctors at The Spine & Sports Health Center understand there isn’t a one size fits everyone remedy for patients. As a mom to two little ones, I can also appreciate the sheer convenience of having various practitioners under one roof and not running from location to location with two small children in tow. Mom-win!
The owners of the practice started The Spine & Sports Health Center together over ten years ago. Both doctors are extremely passionate and caring people who take what they do very seriously. When I was 9 months pregnant, Dr. Kelly told me the importance of taking care of my lower back, especially during that time of pregnancy when there is so much extra weight on your frame. My left leg is slightly longer than my right leg due to a fracture way back in 2004 so my hips were out of alignment adding to the pressure I was already feeling with the pregnancy. He showed me some things I can do at home to relieve the pressure and worked on my lower back, leveling out my hips. I felt open and balanced afterwards, and his simple adjustments relieved the pain and pressure for me.
Chiropractic Care Is Meant To Keep Patients Healthy
According to Dr. Kelly the goal of The Spine & Sports Health Center is, “to get patients out of pain and keep them healthy.” Their team doesn’t just provide you with services and send you on your way. They go beyond their in-practice care by teaching you preventative measures and how to build core strength so you don’t end up right back where you started. I loved learning that the benefits of acupuncture can also extend to a wide variety of conditions, from emotional disorders such as anxiety and depression, to digestive complaints like nausea, vomiting, and irritable bowel syndrome. So whether you are pregnant or just had a baby, they can help you restore balance in your body as well.
Knowing what I know now about acupuncture and chiropractic care, I go at least once a week during my pregnancy, and I actually feel completely off without it (kind of like when I don’t go to the gym or workout regularly). Keeping a balanced lifestyle through all aspects; mind, body, spirit, I find these methods of treatment necessary for me. They help keep me clear-headed and grounded.
The Spine & Sports Health Center has three convenient locations in Hoboken, Jersey City, and Bayonne. Hoboken and Jersey City are the two locations that are fully equipped with all practices of care, while Bayonne specifically focuses on pain management.
What can you expect from The Spine & Sports Health Center in 2018?
