RWJBarnabas Health is offering a bunch of classes and events that shake up the usual routine for the whole family, and the best part is you can choose to do them virtually at home or in person. Whether it’s kids learning to cook yummy snacks, older kids learning safety tips, or you whipping up healthy mocktails, there’s a class or event that will give your family something to look forward to. Healthy Kids in Hannah’s Kitchen

Hands-on cooking for ages 8-12; parent/guardian must register. Your child will learn to cook with nutritious ingredients, read a recipe, kitchen safety tips, measurement techniques, and knife skills.

Safe @ Home (HYBRID)

Safe@Home by Safe Sitter is designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. This program teaches students how to practice safe habits, prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Attendees will first prepare and sample a healthy snack with our registered dietician and then start class. Virtual option available.

Safe Sitter

Safe Sitter is designed to prepare students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. The class has fun games, guided discussions, and role-playing exercises. Students will learn safety, childcare, and life and business skills. Dinner will be provided to attendees.

RWJUH Somerset’s “Let’s Be Healthy Together” Wellness Day
July 15 at 1:30 PM
The event will include a visit by the RWJBarnabas Health Wellness of Wheels bus, which features a greenhouse and cooking school and offers free demonstrations and nutrition education. Learn the importance of a healthy diet and its link to health, as well as how to make healthier food choices, prepare healthy food and grow to produce hydroponically. Visit an EMS vehicle and learn what to do in an emergency. Tours of RWJUH Somerset’s space at Iron Peak will be available.
