Considering bringing a four-legged friend into your family? It’s National Puppy Day today (and April is also ASPCA Month) so NJMOM is bringing you a friendly PSA to consider adopting instead of shopping. Shelters have lovable dogs and cats of all shapes, sizes, and ages who are looking for a good home – so why not make adoption your first choice? We are known to do a little late-night dog-stalking on PetFinder.com in our spare time and found 8 adorable and adoptable pups in New Jersey who need a forever family right now – could your home be the one for them?

If only we could adopt all 8 of these puppies!

Katy – Lab Retriever/Beagle mix (8-10 weeks old)

Katy – She’s the one in the front right with the gorgeous apricot, beige and black fur coat. A Labrador Retriever and Beagle mix puppy, Katy’s very compatible with other animals and gentle children. She’s about 8-10 weeks old, is up to date on all her shots and vaccinations, and will be fixed when she’s old enough. You can meet her at All 4 The Dogs Rescue in Roosevelt, New Jersey.

Titan – American Staffordshire Terrier (young)

Titan – The black and white cutie on the left. He’s a 100% purebred American Staffordshire Terrier as verified by DNA tests. Titan loves dogs, loves people. He’s a happy-go-lucky young pup, fully vaccinated and neutered, and does not need to be crated. Reach out to Adopt-A-Pet in Freehold, New Jersey for more information about Titan.

Pugsley – Beagle/Pug mix (6 years old)

Pugsley – This Beagle & Pug mix needs some extra TLC. Pugsley was hit by a car a few months ago and is still on the mend. He loves people and snuggling, so he’s perfect to accompany anyone as a support animal. Wilma’s Orphans, Inc. in Jackson, New Jersey is currently housing Pugsley until he finds his forever home.

Dallas – German Shepherd mix (puppy)

Dallas – This lover boy will be ready for his forever home in two weeks. This German Shepherd Mix was rescued along with his brothers and mom and is super sweet and lovable. Just look at that face! Meet Dallas through Husky House in Matawan, New Jersey.

Raymond – English Setter mix (2 years old)

Raymond – Just call him Ray Ray for short. Everybody loves Raymond, and you can love on this guy in your very own home. A two-year-old English Setter mix, Raymond loves his foster family, going on walks, and opening up to new people. He’ll protect you and your home, and fill it with unconditional love. Ray Ray is currently residing in Ramsey, New Jersey through A Better English Setter Rescue.

Stefan – Shepherd mix (6 months old)

Stefan – Sir Wags a Lot here is 6 months old and ready for any adventure. He’s great with kids, dogs and even cats – basically a dream pup! If your family is sweet and silly, you might be the perfect match for Stefan. Those floppy ears are just waiting to be scratched. Contact Friends of Sochi Dogs in Morristown, New Jersey for more info.

Miss Brandi – Coonhound/Retriever mix (6 months old)

Miss Brandi – How can you say no to those puppy dog eyes? Miss Brandi is a 6-month-old Coonhound and Retriever Mix who is smart, loving, and playful. She’s good with children and other dogs (loves her current foster fur brothers) and is even cat-approved. Meet her at Woof Love Rescue in Collingswood, New Jersey.

Abby – Redbone Coonhound (puppy)

Abby – Look at those sweet wrinkles! Abby is a sweet Redbone Coonhound purebred puppy. She’s up-to-date on all her vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. She’s looking for a loving family to take her home and cherish her forever. She is being cared for by American Rescue Dog in Brick, New Jersey.

Will you help save a life? Before you ask how much is that doggy in the window, head to your nearest animal shelter and consider adopting, instead of shopping!
