10 Things to do This Weekend: Labor Day Edition

One thing’s for sure: if you live in the garden state, Labor Day weekend is shaping up to be a great one. Fly high with museum tours and historic aircrafts at Airfest in Rio Grande, watch paper boat races with the Frenchtown Vikings at Frenchtown Riverfest in Frenchtown or feast on Danish apple cakes galore at the Scandinavian Fest in Hackettstown.

Airfest 2019
August 30 – September 2
Soar over to Cape May Airport for a day that will make you and the littles want to fly (literally). Airfest returns to the U.S. Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum this year with museum tours, live music, food trucks, a beer garden, historic aircraft and bombers on display—with bomber flights too. A bonus? Admission is free for members of the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum.

Bradley Beach Labor Day Lobsterfest
August 31 – September 1
Did somebody say lobster?! This free event features six bands and DJ’s playing your favorite songs, over 180 craft and specialty vendors, all the food (and seafood) you can imagine. As far as kid’s activities go, there’ll be water slide, rides, face painting and sand art. Bonus: the event is oceanfront, so you and the family can dig your toes into the sand at the end of this fun event.

BBQ & Craft Beer Festival at Monmouth Park Racetrack
August 31 – September 2
Mamas, you can’t go wrong with a good BBQ dish and a nice cold beer to wash it down. Test out the state’s best pulled pork, brisket and ribs and enjoy a beer in the Craft Beer Garden, which features over 40 craft beers to try. There’s plenty of fun for the kids too, like bounce houses, face painting and clowns. Listen to live music while you pile up napkins, too…you’ll definitely need them.

Just Be You Performing Arts Youth Film Festival
August 30
Celebrate the youth in your life, as well as those in your favorite community, at the Just Be You Performing Arts Youth Film Festival. The Just Be You Festival is a celebration of all things performing arts, including film, theater, music, dance, fashion and comedy. The festival features engaging entertainment, education, live music and tons of fun for every family member’s age.

4th Annual Brigantine Art Walk
August 31, 10 AM – 5 PM
The annual Brigantine Art Walk will have all the littles’ faces smiling, all while inspiring their creativity. There will be 38 artists at the event to display and sell their artwork with so many stimulating colors, shapes, designs and techniques that kids will love to gaze at.

Frenchtown Riverfest
September 1, 12 PM – 7 PM
Riverfest is back with a fun-filled day of friends, family, food, music, art and paper boat races with the Frenchtown Vikings. As the summer comes to an end, this is the perfect way to enjoy family-friendly activities that are truly unique to Frenchtown.

Scandinavian Fest
September 1
Make your way to rustic Vasa Park for a festival that celebrates all things Scandinavian. Chow down on Swedish meatballs, Danish apple cakes or old-fashioned soda pop while you watch live performances of folk-dancing, singing, medieval battles and cultural presentations about the Nordic region. Have any traditional folk costumes? Wear it and your admission is free.

Pompton Day

The Filipino American Festival

Ready to celebrate, integrate and promote cultural diversity?
