Summertime events in New Jersey, always. But free summertime events in New Jersey are especially great! Now that the kids have hit their summer vacation stride, family-friendly events are in full swing. From free firework shows, to free movies, food markets and beach festivals, there’s no shortage of free activities and festivals this July in New Jersey!

1. Allaire Village’s Independence Day Celebration
Sunday, July 1st, 2018 from 11:00AM to 4:00PM

The members of the Howell Iron Works celebrate the founding of our nation with the Independence Day Celebration. Experience a day in the life of people during the 1830s. The school master will be holding lessons for visitors and villagers alike. Participate in militia drills and a parade. The Declaration of Independence will be read at 1pm in front of the General Store. Make sure your family celebrates their American pride with this unique event open for all.

2. Sunday in the Park With the Symphony
Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 8:00PM to 10:00PM
The New Jersey Symphony Orchestra wants to come to your backyard and perform an open-air concert for free. Families are encouraged to join many other attendees at Marine Park with its stunning views of the Navesink River, and soak in the magnificent sounds of the NJSO. The symphony’s performance is so unique because it comes with their very own truck that converts into a mobile stage, with complete with sound, lighting and all the trimmings. Families can lay back in the grass or bring a lawn chair and take in this marvelous concert in a breathtaking setting. Concert-goers are also encouraged to spend the day walking around Red Bank and take advantage of the many happenings around town. Families can shop in unique boutiques, take advantage of special menus at various restaurants & eateries or grab take-out and create a picnic, and then head over to marine park to enjoy the sounds of the symphony.

3. Leonia Sports Boosters Carnival
July 1st – July 8th, 2018
Enjoy midway rides for all ages, carnival games, favorite fair food and Fourth of July fireworks at this family-friendly annual event benefiting local competitive youth sports. Carnival parking and admission are free. Unlimited ride wristbands (for riders 36 inches and taller) are available on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for $30, or $20 if purchased online by June 27. Ride tickets are $1.50 each, $25 for 20 tickets, or $50 for 50 tickets plus 1 free ride. Rides take 2 or more tickets each. Visit the website for coupon savings on rides and food. Carnival hours are 5 to 11 pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and noon to 11 pm Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday. The July 4th fireworks display will start at 9:30 pm. 4. Famous Food Market

Free movies on the beach every Tuesday located on Avalon’s 30th Beach Street. Movies begin at dusk. All movies are free to the public with no beach tag needed; in the event of inclement weather, the movies are shown inside Avalon Community Hall.

7. Ocean City Fourth of July Celebration
Wednesday, July 4, 2018 from 7:00PM to 9:00PM
Relax on the beach, enjoy the rides at Wonderland Pier or Castaway Cove, have some delicious funnel cake and watch a captivating fireworks display. Arrive early to take part in the annual kite competition at 7:00PM. After a fun day on the beach, families look forward to lining up on the boardwalk for this family-friendly fireworks show.

10. Freedom Festival

Presented by the Camden County Board of Freeholders and the City of Camden at Wiggins Park, this festival brings thousands of people together to enjoy a series of artists and a spectacular rework show from Serpico Pyrotechnics. This year, Freedom Festival will also have an exclusive beer garden featuring Tonewood Brewing’s nest! Be sure to come to the Camden Waterfront for food, beer music, and reworks in celebration of the annual Freedom Festival!
