Date night starts now at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City
After cheering on our son at his very rainy soccer game, we jumped in the car and pulled up to the valet parking attendant at the resort in no time. We grabbed our bags, checked in, and walked into our room a few minutes later. The rooms at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City are absolutely stunning and decorated in a sleek, contemporary style with monochromatic sand and gray tones. This time, we stayed in their luxurious one-bedroom suite that boasted floor-to-ceiling windows with the most spectacular views of the beach and the pier. There’s also a separate living area with a kitchenette, two spacious bathrooms, and a wide comfortable king bed you can sleep in all day. Bangz Salon and Blow Dry Lounge is a gift to tired parents everywhere and totally transformed us for our night out. I scheduled a blowout for me and a much-needed haircut for Greg. My stylist, Jamie, was so friendly and knowledgeable, and after a wash and conditioning treatment for my dry and damaged hair (I can still feel the difference), she gave me a blowout that made me feel ready to take on the weekend. Chrissy, another stylist, suggested Greg update his look with a trendy haircut, and he obliged. He left looking slick and relaxed—the calming head massage and time in the chair added to the luxurious experience, and we realized how much we needed this me-time.

Ahh—finally, a couple’s spa to relax at Exhale Spa and Boathouse
After, we took the pampering and relaxation to the next level at the exclusive Exhale Spa and Bathhouse. This huge spa was bigger than most spas I’ve visited. We were blown away by all the choices in the 40,000 square feet of calming space filled with unique areas, including heated jetted pools, a Himalayan salt grotto, a sauna, a steam room, and a jacuzzi. We detoxed, restored, and enjoyed each other while using all the amazing amenities and emerged stress-free and rejuvenated. We spent a long time there, and by the end, we were more than ready to head back to the room to get dressed for a special night out.

Dinner with a side of ocean views at Amada inside Ocean Casino Resort
After changing in our room, we took the elevator down to dinner at Amada, a premiere Atlantic City restaurant of Chef Jose Garces, James Beard Winner, Iron Chef, and restauranteur in Philadelphia and NJ. The Spanish ambiance (and, yes, more stunning beach views!) is fun, trendy, and rustic-chic. We started the night off with a craft cocktail from their mixologist at the bar. I ordered the specialty drink, the Rose Gold, which is Tito’s vodka blended with rosemary and passion fruit, which was delish. Greg got excited to pick and choose a gin and tonic from their gin and tonic selection on the menu, which lets you select from premium spirits and fresh garnishes like lemon and thyme for a refreshing and unique libation.
After toasting our long-awaited getaway, we ordered the tapas plate, a perfect complement to the drinks. Then on to the main event—we took our time, relishing each of the flavors. Our favorites were the crab stuffed peppers, the beef short rib flatbread, and the perfectly cooked Wagyu NY strip paired with Brussels sprouts made with chorizo, goat cheese, and fennel pollen (yum). Dessert is a must, and we had the special bunuelos, hand-crafted doughnuts with dates, and olive oil ice cream topped with date jam. It was all exquisitely delicious.
Nola’s is a great place to hear live music and maybe even step out on the dance floor in Atlantic City.

We weren’t ready for the night to end, so we decided to check out NOLA Lounge near the casino for fantastic live music, drinks, and dancing. As soon as we walked in, we could feel the energy—this place had a great vibe that was unique, sophisticated, and fun. We were able to order specialty cocktails and craft beer and had the best night dancing to the two local bands performing there that night. We left on a high note, with the music buzzing in our head, as we made our way back to the room and sank into the cushy surroundings and plush bed.

In the morning, we grabbed a quick bite at Caffeccino, relaxed in our room, and checked out to go home (yes, more rainy soccer!). We were sorry to leave, but our favorite part of our trip to Ocean Casino Resort was knowing that whatever it was we needed, whatever type of trip we wanted to have—it was available to us. Our next getaway to Ocean Casino Resort may look completely different or the same, depending on our mood. Greg has his eye on the Top Golf Suite, I want to try the Italian restaurant Dolce Mare, and we both want to go to HQ2 Nightclub for the DJs and performers or catch a celebrity appearance. If we come with friends, we may want to rent their bungalows with private pools. And though we didn’t get a chance to gamble this time, we’re planning to hit the blackjack tables and the slots on our next visit. But the best part was knowing this luxurious escape was so close by, and we didn’t have to reschedule anything to make it. We were back home by the time the next game started, feeling refreshed, connected, totally relaxed, and ready to take on the rest of the season.
