Hey mamas, grab your best gal pal or book the sitter for a date night or day — I’m debuting my dark comedy live-action show, The Interview, at the Mile Square Theater in Hoboken on June 29th and 30th. I’m a Hoboken resident, full-time copywriter, dog mom of 2, part-time yoga teacher, and also a playwright. I wrote and directed The Interview, and it’s starring NJ residents Michael Travers, Daniel Esposito, and Jennifer Rose Rossano (who is also another Hoboken resident and mom of 2).
See a Jersey playwright debut her work in Hoboken
I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was very young, and although I love being a copywriter by trade, it’s the creative work that gets me really pumped. Anyone who comes to see our show is supporting dreams — mine, the actors’, and the crew’s — because we are all doing something we love and want to share with others.
The Interview is a dark comedy with plot twists throughout the show. As an audience member, you can expect to be entertained by the witty humor woven into the dialogue and the mysterious story that unfolds. Be prepared for adult content and language, but feel free to laugh when it feels right. These actors are pros at making you go from belly-laughing one moment to sitting at the edge of your seat in anticipation the next.
What to know before you go
Actors Michael Travers and Daniel Esposito star in the show and will take the audience through the bulk of the story. Jennifer Rossano is in a supportive role that will have the audience laughing and will lighten some of the more serious moments. The behind-the-scenes crew is made up of students from local colleges — Emily Gocon is in charge of lighting design, and is currently attending Montclair State University; Christopher Oliver is heading up all sound and music needs, and he is currently attending NJCU; and Collin De Lade, who just graduated from MSU, is the stage/set manager. I’m excited for everyone to see what they’ve helped me create through sound, music, lighting, and stage settings.
If you’re looking for a night (or afternoon) out, we recommend checking out the show and then heading over to the Pilsener Haus & Biergarten around the corner for a drink. And with $10 valet parking being offered, you don’t have to dread finding a spot.
Tickets are on sale at theinterviewplay.eventbrite.com for $20. A limited amount of tickets will be available to purchase at the theater for $30, but we recommend purchasing ahead of time to save some money + guarantee your seat. There is also a short Q&A with Morgan and the actors after the show, so you can ask all your questions about the story, acting, directing, and more.
