Here’s What To Know About Fright Fest Extreme 2024
After dark, Six Flags Fright Fest Extreme turns up the scare factor
If you want to get a good look at all the scary, fun Halloween decorations before they turn creepy, make sure you visit the park before dark. As soon as the sun dips down, the foggy haze and eerie sounds play in the distance, setting the stage for creepiness and a scary Halloween night. Even the traditional water fountain in the main square lights up with spooky Halloween lights, giving an eerie feel to the park. Be warned— here are “jump scares”—creepy characters dressed in zombie-like costumes trolling the park and popping out when you least expect them. This year, you can expect to see legendary horror brands come to life, adding a new level of scare from cult favorite movies and shows like Stranger Things, Saw, and The Conjuring.
Dare to enter the Six Flags Fright Fest Extreme haunted houses
The centerpiece of Fright Fest Extreme is the haunted houses. No spoiler here, but the nine premium haunted house themes—Stranger Things, THE CONJURING, SAW 20th Anniversary, Army of the Dead, Texas Chain Saw, Trick r’ Treat, Big Top Terror, The Asylum, The Witches Reflections— will keep you on your toes and satisfy each Halloween chill seeker.

What lurks in the shadows of the scare zones
Are you ready for a spooky mini-adventure? Clowns, zombies, and demons are waiting for you in the shadows, ready to make your night a nightmare. There are five scare zones (themed areas with props and their own set of scary characters) are set up throughout the park, including The Bloody Fountain, Curse of Blackbeard’s Bounty, CarnEvil, Demon District, and Exile Canyon, and each one will keep you looking over your shoulder. Some are filled with hazy smoke and frightful creatures, but if you ask nicely, the creepy characters will take a selfie with you—Boo!
The BEST part of the Six Flags Fright Fest Extreme
If you need a break from the scares but still want a creepy and spooky experience, make sure to check out the “Monstertainment” shows like Dead Man’s Party, Unleashed, Blade Drummers, and Freak Show for a dose of macabre entertainment. For most, though, the best part of heading to Six Flags for Fright Fest Extreme is hitting the coasters, especially at night. In the dare, the adrenaline rush of slowly climbing up and dropping 130 ft while going 58 mph is a chilling thrill like no other. And for coaster fans, Six Flags’ Jersey Devil Coaster is the world’s tallest, fastest, and longest single-rail coaster that packs a maximum thrill level, especially after dark.
What to know before you go
Fright Fest Extreme runs from September 13 to November 3, 2024, with mature themes that are graphic and may be too intense for younger kids. All kids 15 and younger must be accompanied by a chaperone age 21+ with a valid government-issued photo ID to be admitted to or remain in the park after 5 PM on Fright Fest Extreme Nights. Fright Fest Extreme Tickets start at $65; the Daytime Admission + Fright Fest Extreme Bundle tickets are $90 each, and Rip Tours (a VIP tour with a ‘gore’ guide and with express access to all available Haunted Maze are $99.99 plus admission to Fright Fest). There is no park re-entry for Fright Fest Extreme, and costumes are not allowed. Keep in mind that there’s plenty of walking throughout each attraction, so wearing comfy shoes is a must. The park has also gone cashless, so take advantage of the lockers provided (pay at the kiosk) and keep a credit card or debit card in your pocket.
If you have kids under 13, there’s still plenty of daytime Halloween fun at Six Flags Great Adventure with Kids Boofest 2024. Families can come during the day to experience Boo Fest (weekends September 14-November 3), the Wild Safari on select days this fall, and Oktoberfest (weekends September 7-November 3).
