Looking for an active family day that gives everyone an awesome workout (hello early bedtime!) and supports a good cause? Lace up and hit the pavement on Saturday, November 2nd at the 3rd annual Running with the Devils 5K Run and Walk. The New Jersey Devils are teaming up with RWJBarnabas Health, (their official healthcare provider) to raise funds to benefit RWJBarnabas Health’s programs and services, so get ready for a day filled with meet and greets of hockey players, mascots, music, games and plenty of photo ops to feed your ‘gram.

Family-friendly race to promote healthy living in New Jersey
The race’s goal is to unite families from across the state to build healthier communities, develop active lifestyles and promote world-class healthcare. With that in mind, they’ll be doing fundraising up until the event, so this is a perfect moment to teach your kids about the importance of giving back to the community. Plus, there are some pretty cool prizes up for grabs for top fundraisers, including 4 club seat tickets to a New Jersey Devils game, and a skating party at the RWJBarnabas Health Hockey House.
If you’ve got a family of NJ sport fans, or your littles love to meet a mascot, they’ll be excited for the first ever mascot race this year. Popular mascots from your favorite NJ professional and collegiate sports teams, including the NJ Devil, Scarlet Knight and Seton Hall Pirate, will race to the finish line. And they’ll be plenty to do after the race too: Your kids will have a blast playing interactive games, dance all day long, snap a few selfies and even meet with New Jersey Devils alumni.
What to know before you go
Sign up online early to start fundraising: Registration for the 5K is $30 for runners ($25 fee for USATF members), $20 for adult walkers (18+) and $15 for child walkers (ages 5-17). Children under four are free. Registration at the event opens at 7:30 a.m. and the race will kick off at 9:00 a.m. Parking will be available in the field next to the recreation complex, at McLoone’s or at Turtle Back Zoo.
All participants will need to stop by the registration tent to receive their t-shirt, 5K bib and wristband. And there’s a bonus if your fam is still looking for action: The wristband will serve as a zoo pass for free admission to Turtle Back Zoo and discounted admission to Mini Golf Safari and Cody Arena for the day of the event.
