Basking Ridge Country Club Golf Academy is just the place where he or she can really get into the swing of the game and learn everything from golf fundamentals to advanced athletic technique. Considering golf is a life-long sport that spans generations, the earlier the better to start honing those pitches and putts. This summer, the Academy offers half and full-day camps for ages 7-16 and clinics for ages starting at 6. The best part? There’s no club membership required to get your kids out on the greens, and the club is conveniently located one mile from exit 30A off Route 287, making drop-off and pick-up a breeze.

Learn from PGA Professionals at Basking Ridge Country Club Golf Academy

Your kids are in good hands here: the PGA Professional staff is led by Mark DeLaura, who has over 25 years of playing and teaching the game to kids and adults, giving the junior academy a standard of excellence that ranks as one of the best in the state of New Jersey. What’s more, junior players learn on courses that suit their skill level, with three putting greens, a well-bunkered short game area and a driving range with target greens. In both the clinics and camp, PGA Pro teachers focus on the fundamentals, with simple movements and easy-to-understand lessons that develop the basics of putting, chipping, pitching and full swing. Students are also taught the integrity and life skills needed to perform on the course, as the pros impress upon them the traditions of golf and a passion for the game.

Our exciting camps and clinics are an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of golf by demonstrating simple movements that are easy for juniors to understand. This teaching philosophy allows all of our students to achieve success and gain greater enjoyment for golf at an earlier age.” – Mark DeLaura, Head PGA Golf Professional

Get the kids out on the greens with week-long, full and half-day camps for all levels at Basking Ridge Country Club Golf Academy

If you’re looking to put your kids on the fast track to Junior PGA level (or just to play with you), enroll them in an immersive, week-long full or half-day camp. Grouped by similar abilities and ages, each day out on the greens covers all aspects of the golf swing and its application to the course. Half-day camps are open to all levels ages 7-16 and cost $425. In addition to putting, chipping and full swings, campers work on movement skills and drills to improve their physical motion. They also develop an understanding of swing mechanics to boost their ball striking ability. Full-day camps are also open to all levels ages 7-16 and the cost is $795. Your child will start their day with a golf muscle warmup, followed by lessons and drills with a midday break for lunch and a swim in the club pool. In the afternoon, on-course instruction resumes, as well as games that keep kids interested. In addition to the swing skills, pros emphasize short game swing, full swing and putting mechanics. Campers also learn how to read greens and golf-course management. Rounding out the experience, pros use video analysis to show kids how to improve and understand their swing, as well as teach the history of the game, rules, and etiquette.

We take great pride in being voted as one of New Jersey’s top family-friendly clubs…and we strive to make it feel like a second home to both our members and those who partake in all our golf academy has to offer.”” -Lauren Treich, Membership Director

Choose your own course with four different clinic options

If the camp isn’t your kid’s jam, then a clinic may be. The four clinics are offered through the season for kids starting at age six. Each clinic is three sessions, varying from an hour to an hour and a half (depending on age group and skill level) and ranges in price from $135-250. We love the Parent/Child Clinic open to kids from 6-17, which lets you or a grandparent work on the fundamentals with your child, not only strengthening that family bond, but also improving your own game. Others to consider: Scrambler’s Clinic, for ages 6-8, which emphasizes fun and basic swing movement skills; Aces Clinic, for ages 8-12, that develops the fundamentals and on-course play in an entertaining game atmosphere; and the Advanced Clinic, for more experienced juniors, ages 13-18, who are interested in honing their skills, perfecting swing mechanics, learning course management and taking their game to the next level.

Basking Ridge Country Club Golf Academy also offers individual lessons for all ages and abilities that are formatted to suit individual student needs. For more information, check out the club’s website, Facebook, or Instagram.
