A Majestic Family-Friendly Gardens In New Jersey – Who Knew?
In the heart of New Brunswick, NJ is the breath-taking Rutgers Gardens. Open year round, explorers can enjoy the gardens everyday between 8 am until dusk. This backyard oasis is also one of the very few botanical gardens in our country that is free for visitors.
Over 50 acres of gardens on the Cook Campus of Rutgers University provides all-day exploring for families and visitors.
Stroll at your leisure exploring the nine different collections including the American Hollies or the Bamboo Forest. No matter which trail you take, you really never know what you will find. My family loves hiking the kid-friendly trails where we’ve found butterfly flocks in the spring and owls in the fall. The Gardens provides our family with a relaxing afternoon, enjoying the beautiful blooms and all that New Jersey’s “Garden State” has to offer.
Be sure to take a visit on Fridays from May to November for the weekly Farmer’s Market or stop by in the spring to pick up your spring plants at the Spring Flower Fair.
