1. William D. McDowell Observatory
April 5, 12, 19, 26, 2017 from 7:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
A sky full of stars is the key to any young astronomer’s heart. Explore the nature trail surrounding the New Jersey Meadowlands, and then see space up close at the William D. McDowell Observatory. Canoe tours are also available for a first person experience navigating the Hackensack River’s tidal creeks and marshes.

2. Fire Pit Fridays 
Friday nights in April from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Enjoy a night surrounded by those you love at the Willow Creek Winery’s Fire Pit Fridays. There will be live entertainment and tapas and wine available, for purchase.

3. New Jersey Botanical Garden
Ring in the new season with one of the best foliage in New Jersey. Now is the time to see water lilies, spring flowers, and colorful trees, all greeting you with their wide array of colors! Go on a guided tour or enjoy a secluded walk through nature.

4. Easter Egg Hunts

5. Nature Eco Tour
Saturdays in March at 12 p.m.

6. Cape May County Color Fun Run
April 29, 2017 at 8 a.m.
While there are a variety of 5K races throughout New Jersey, one of the most exciting kinds is a “color run.” These are races where you are splattered with different colors as you reach different checkpoints! This is a great incentive to work harder and reach your athletic goals. (Dress as Wacky as you can: costumes, face paint are encouraged!)

7. Bergen County Zoo
Open daily, 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Parks, trains, and carousels, oh my! These are just a few of the hidden gems at the Bergen County Zoo. Enjoy your child’s favorite creatures with a little spark of the Bergen County Zoo’s magic. Learn something new today at their educational events, like their World Tapir Day on April 29th!

8. 2017 Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival 
April 8-23, 2017
Visit the soft pink flowers that dot the Newark skies at the Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival. Branch Brook Park, the nation’s first county park, is where your family can enjoy such festivities like the Cherry Blossom Challenge Bike Race on April 8th, and Bloomfest! on April 23.
