Full of fountains, sculptures, lakes and lagoons, these open lands are exciting spots to explore nature. While Duke Farms is beautiful and fun in the summer, it’s also thrilling in the winter with opportunities for snow shoeing and skiing.

2. Firefly Festival, Kids Orchid Club, …. + more events

Duke Farms is an awesome spot for staying active, but it can also be a fun place to learn a lot. Duke Farms offers classes for kids such as Kids Orchid Club and Printing with Nature. Through interactive and unique courses kids can be fully immersed in nature. Cool events such as the Firefly Festival are also always happening at Duke Farms for your kids to have fun in a natural environment.

3. Enjoy locally grown healthy snacks or pack your own

With all of the activity and fun, your kids will definitely be hungry at Duke Farms. You can pack a snack and eat picnic style or try Duke Farms Cafe and Market for local, healthy snacks. From eggs and oatmeal to sandwiches and soups, the cafe offers delicious meals with locally grown ingredients. The Market is also a host to produce, meat, cheese and wine from local farmers.

Abby Jurgens is a student at Villanova University majoring in Communications and minoring in Creative Writing and Spanish. She lives in Bergen County, NJ with her parents and older sister.
